Two of the best teams in MLB wrap up a three-game set with a special event Sunday night as the 2026 Little League Classic brings them to Williamsport, Pa. The Brewers, who are going for the series sweep, have a seven-game lead in the NL Central, while the Braves have seen their NL East lead dwindle to three games over the Phillies. Atlanta right-hander Tyler Mahle (4-10, 4.53 ERA) is expected to face Milwaukee lefty Shane Drohan (6-4, 3.86). The Atlanta Braves take on the Milwaukee Brewers tonight in Williamsport, Pa., home of the Little League World Series and the annual MLB Little League Classic. This will be the eighth time that two MLB teams are meeting at this venue, with five of the previous seven going over the total of 7.5 that we're seeing tonight. The left-field fence being pushed in helps the scoring environment, and despite these teams playing to lower totals the past couple of nights, I'm thinking the energy in the building mixed with some smaller field dimensions can help push this game over the total.
The Braves have just been abysmal of late, with a 2-7 record over their last nine games, and desperately need to end the road trip and get back home. Things don't get much easier with the weird schedule here, traveling from Milwaukee to Pennsylvania, but they do have an edge later in the game with a rested bullpen, as Milwaukee should be down a few of its better arms tonight.
I would also give Atlanta the starting pitchinger edge with Tyler Mahle over Shane Drohan. Mahle has been incredible since coming over to the Braves, allowing just three runs in 18.2 innings and racking up 19 strikeouts in three starts. Drohan, on the other hand, gets a matchup against a top-10 offense vs. lefties and has been trending in the opposite way. He has allowed nine runs over his last two starts, although he did also have a two-inning shutout relief appearance last time out. Regardless of how good he is, I don't expect Drohan to pitch deep into the game, so the Brewers are likely asking a lot of a bullpen that's been taxed this week if they want to sweep the Braves here.
We know how tough it is to sweep a team as well, so I'm going to back the Braves to salvage something here to end their road trip behind the better pitcher. Mahle also gets a boost in the platoon category here, with a .293 average allowed to righties but just a .223 allowed against left-handed batters. That should play well here against a Brewers lineup that projects to have three righties as opposed to six lefties.
Drohan has been about even against righties and lefties, with a .242 average allowed, but the walks and home run numbers are much higher when he's facing right-handed batters, and this Braves lineup has quite a few righties who can mash southpaws.
Of the bunch, I like Ozzie Albies the best, as he is hitting over .280 against lefties but under .230 when facing righties, giving us a massive split and showing his consistency from year to year being a "lefty masher." Over 1.5 hits, runs and RBI is -120 on BetMGM for Albies, and I'm playing that one as a straight bet as well.
