WORCHESTER, Mass. (AP) Micah Seaborn scored 25 points as Monmouth beat SC State 86-62 on Saturday in the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational.
Seaborn hit 8 of 9 from beyond the arc for the Hawks (3-2), the second-most from 3-point range in school history behind Dave Calloway who had nine 3-pointers against Pepperdine in 1990. Justin Robinson added 12 points with six assists and four rebounds, Chris Brady had 10 points and five rebounds. The team averaged 55 percent shooting from the field and 65.5 percent from the line.
Brady hit a jumper and Seaborn sank a 3-pointer back-to-back and the Hawks took a 24-12 lead with 8:41 to go in the first period. They led 43-25 at the break.
Monmouth took their biggest lead of the game, 77-49, on a free throw by Louis Pillari with 5:38 to play and SC State never got closer than 20 points after that.
Eric Eaves scored 17 points for the Bulldogs (1-5).
