FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) Alec Wintering scored a career-high 36 points and Portland beat Cal State Northridge 96-78 Sunday night in the seventh-place game of the Wooden Legacy Tournament.

Wintering has scored 30 or more points in consecutive games for the second time in his career. He scored 31 points in Friday's loss against Dayton, and is the only player in the program with back-to-back 30-point games.

Wintering shot 14 of 20 from the field, made four 3-pointers and had six assists. Jazz Johnson scored 26 points for the Pilots (4-2). Jarrel Marshall added 16 points.

Darin Johnson scored 16 points to lead Cal State Northridge (2-5). Aaron Parks had 15 points and six assists.

Portland opened the game on a 25-8 run and had a nine-point lead at halftime. The Matadors pulled to 57-52 with 14:28 to play but didn't get closer.
