SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Eric Mika scored 20 points, L.J. Rose added 18 - combining for 28 points in the second half - and BYU turned back in-state rival Utah State 77-63 at a neutral site on Wednesday night.
The Cougars (5-2) won their 11th straight at Vivint Smart Home Arena, where they have played at least once a year since 2007. It was their third straight win over the Aggies at the Arena and fifth-straight in the series.
BYU led 37-31 at halftime and prevailed by hitting 21 of 25 free throws despite shooting 30 percent (8 of 27) from the field in the second half. Rose scored 16 of his points in the second half, making all three of his shots, including two 3-pointers, and 8 of 9 free throws.
Yoeli Childs had 12 rebounds to go with nine points as BYU had a 55-31 advantage on the boards. The Cougars' 23 offensive rebounds are the fifth most in school history.
Jalen Moore had 15 points for Utah State (3-3), which was 6 of 11 from the line.
