Johnson (ankle) will not play Sunday against the Kings.
Johnson will sit out a second straight game, and it's not a great sign for him that he's getting ruled out a day in advance of tipoff. In the meantime, it's likely that Bub Carrington continues to shoulder a massive workload in the backcourt.

Johnson (ankle) will not play Friday against the Lakers.
Johnson suffered a left ankle sprain Thursday against the Bucks and was unable to return, so it's not a surprise to see him sitting out for this contest. In his absence, the Wizards will likely rely heavily on second-year point guard Bub Carrington.

Wizards' Tre Johnson: Won't return Thursday
Johnson has been ruled out for the rest of Thursday's game against the Bucks due to a left ankle sprain, Chase Hughes of Monumental Sports Network reports.
Johnson appeared to roll his left ankle after landing on Ryan Rollins' foot on a jump shot, with the former checking out of the game at the 8:05 mark in the second quarter. The injury is severe enough for Johnson that the rookie first-rounder will not return to Thursday's game, and he'll finish with eight points (2-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT) and two assists over 11 minutes. Bub Carrington was on the floor for the Wizards to open the second half and should see a significant increase in minutes in Johnson's absence.

Wizards' Tre Johnson: Stays hot from downtown
Johnson logged 18 points (7-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one block over 32 minutes during Tuesday's 115-111 win over the Trail Blazers.
The rookie guard hasn't been shy about firing it up from three-point range in January. Johnson has drained at least three treys in four straight games and six of the last eight, averaging 16.1 points, 3.4 assists, 3.0 threes, 2.4 boards and 1.0 combined steals and blocks during that stretch while shooting 40.0 percent from beyond the arc.

Johnson provided 26 points (8-22 FG, 6-15 3Pt, 4-5 FT) and six assists across 37 minutes during Saturday's 119-115 loss to the Hornets.
The teenage guard led all scorers on the afternoon, as he set new career highs in points and made three-pointers in his 37th NBA game. Johnson has scored in double digits in 13 of 15 contests since moving into the starting five for the Wizards, averaging 15.1 points, 3.1 assists, 2.7 threes, 2.3 boards and 1.0 steals in 28.5 minutes over that stretch.

Johnson amassed 19 points (7-14 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one block across 34 minutes during Thursday's 107-97 loss to the Nuggets.
It was Johnson's highest-scoring output since the Jan. 11 loss in Phoenix. The 2025 first-rounder should continue handling extra usage until Trae Young (knee) is ready to make his team debut. Johnson has averaged 13.5 points, 3.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 28.5 minutes per tilt in 11 games this month.

Johnson closed Friday's 128-115 loss to the Kings with 18 points (7-17 FG, 4-8 3Pt), two rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal over 30 minutes.
Making his 11th straight start, Johnson once again filled up the bucket from long range -- he's scored in double digits 10 times during that stretch, and drained multiple three-pointers nine times. Since moving into the starting five, the sixth overall pick in the 2025 Draft is averaging 14.7 points, 2.9 assists, 2.5 boards, 2.5 threes and 1.4 steals in 26.9 minutes while shooting 43.5 percent from beyond the arc.

Wizards' Tre Johnson: Leads team in scoring
Johnson posted 19 points (8-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt), five rebounds and three assists over 30 minutes during Sunday's 112-93 loss to the Suns.
Johnson continues to show promise as a rookie for the Wizards. He finished with 19 points against the Suns and is currently averaging 12.5 points per game for the season, which ranks seventh best among all rookies. He's doing so while playing just 24.1 minutes per game as the Wizards' rotation fluctuates from night to night. Over his last 15 games, he's scored double figures in all but two of those contests.

With Kyshawn George (hip) still sidelined, Johnson made his seventh straight start and led the Wizards in scoring. It was a strong bounce-back effort after the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft had managed only six points Tuesday against the Magic. Johnson's averaging 14.7 points, 2.9 assists, 2.6 boards, 2.3 threes and 1.1 steals during his time in the starting five, but his usage figures to take a dip once Trae Young officially joins the roster.

Johnson ended with six points (2-7 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, five assists and two steals across 22 minutes during Tuesday's 120-112 victory over the Magic.
Johnson started for the sixth consecutive game with Kyshawn George (hip) sidelined and dished out a career-high five assists in the win. The rookie failed to connect from deep for just the fifth time in 28 games this season but helped offset it with his activity on the defensive end, recording his third game with multiple steals. It snapped a seven-game streak of scoring in double figures for the sharpshooter. Johnson has played at least 20 minutes in 15 of the past 17 games, averaging 11.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.0 threes, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals in 23.8 minutes per game during that span.

Wizards' Tre Johnson: Struggles to find shooting touch
Johnson closed Sunday's 141-115 loss to the Timberwolves with 13 points (3-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal across 27 minutes.
Johnson had an uncharacteristic night offensively after shooting 55.8 percent from the field and 65.0 percent from downtown in his previous four contests entering Sunday. Even so, he still managed to score in double figures for a ninth straight game and knocked down a season-high six shots from the charity stripe. Johnson should continue to see his name in the starting lineup for the foreseeable future with Kyshawn George (hip) still without a clear timetable for a return.

Wizards' Tre Johnson: Perfect from downtown
Johnson notched 24 points (9-12 FG, 5-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal across 25 minutes during Monday's 115-101 loss to Phoenix.
Johnson did a good chunk of his scoring from beyond the arc Monday, but he received little help from his teammates. He drained a season-high five triples and led the Wizards in scoring, taking full advantage of his opportunity as a starter while Kyshawn George recovers from a hip injury.

Wizards' Tre Johnson: Still has minutes restriction
Johnson (hip) will remain on a minutes restriction in Monday's game against Phoenix, Josh Robbins of The Athleticreports.
Johnson logged 26 minutes during Sunday's tilt against Memphis, which was his highest total since returning from an extended absence with a hip injury. The rookie first-rounder has averaged 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 21.2 minutes per contest in his last eight appearances, and it doesn't sound like he's ready to clear the 30-minute marker yet.

Johnson continues to play off the bench for the Wizards since returning from a hip injury that sidelined him for seven games between Nov. 22 and Dec. 6. He's scored in double digits in three of those five contests, but this was one of his best scoring outputs to date. Johnson has scored in double digits in all but six of his 20 games this season.
