Maryland leads the conference with 12 true freshmen who have played in the first two weeks. Miami coach Al Golden said before the season he would play 14 or 15 true freshmen this season. So far, he has only played 11.

Here's a look at some of the notable true freshmen for each ACC team with the total number of true freshmen to see the field in parentheses:

Maryland (12) -- QB Perry Hills has thrown for 335 yards on 60 percent passing with two touchdowns and three interceptions.  WR Stefon Diggs has six catches for 89 yards and six punt returns for 84 yards this season. Diggs averages 109 all-purpose yards per game.

Miami (11) -- RB Duke Johnson has 13 carries for 159 yards and two touchdowns. RT Ereck Flowers has started both games for the Hurricanes. WR Malcolm Lewis has five catches for 52 yards and a touchdown.

Duke (10) -- K Ross Martin has made 3 of 4 field-goal attempts and all six PATs.

Virginia (9) -- DE Eli Harold has six tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss. CB Maurice Canady has five tackles.

Florida State (8) -- P Cason Beatty has averaged 37.2 yards per punt on four attempts. CB Ronald Darby has two pass break-ups. Both DT Eddie Goldman and DE Mario Edwards have one tackle.

North Carolina (8) -- WR Quinshad Davis has two catches for 32 yards. DE Jessie Rogers has two tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss.

Virginia Tech (7) -- RB J.C. Coleman has 10 carries for 54 yards and one catch for 14 yards. P A.J. Hughes has averaged 39.7 yards per punt with a long of 53 yards. CB Donaldven Manning has a tackle and an interception.

Boston College (6) -- DB Bryce Jones, DB Justin Simmons and LB Steven Daniels each have three tackles in the first two games.

Clemson (4 have registered stats) -- DB Travis Blanks has 10 tackles, and DT D.J. Reader has seven tackles in 31 snaps.

Georgia Tech (2) -- WR/S Anthony Autry and DT Adam Gotsis are the only true freshmen to make an appearance for the Yellow Jackets.

NC State (2) -- WR Charlie Hegedus has two catches for 18 yards. LB M.J. Salahuddin is the only other true freshman to see the field.

Wake Forest (2) -- NG Tylor Harris has four tackles, one tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry. CB James Ward has one tackle.
