  • Ross Martin: Kicked to the curb

Martin was waived by the Browns on Tuesday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Martin was competing with Zane Gonzalez during training camp and the preseason with the hopes of overtaking him for the job. If unclaimed through waivers, he will be free to pursue other opportunities.

  • Browns' Ross Martin: Performs well in practice Sunday

Martin hit four of five field goals, including one from 53 yards, during Sunday's practice session, Nate Ulrich of The Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Martin was set up in a duel with incumbent kicker Zane Gonzalez, with each kicker attempting a field goal from 34, 38, 40, 45 and 53 yards. Gonzalez went three for five, missing from 34 and 53, while Martin's only miss came from 38. Gonzalez is coming off a preseason tilt that saw him make a 54-yard field goal and he appears to be taking over the kicking battle. However, Martin's performance Sunday suggests the decisions haven't been made yet and he could grab the job for himself entering Week 1.

  • Browns' Ross Martin: Signs with Cleveland

Martin signed with the Browns on Thursday.

Martin signed with the team after trying out during minicamp this week. He has been with the Jets in each of the last two training camps after going undrafted out of Duke, but he hasn't managed to make a final roster in the NFL.

  • Ross Martin: Released by Jets

Martin was released by the Jets on Saturday, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.

Martin looked to be the better kicker in training camp compared to incumbent Chandler Catanzaro, but the Jets apparently had concerns with Martin's leg strength and hang time on kickoffs.
