Alabama defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson sustained an in injury in Wednesday's practice and will undergo surgery, Nick Saban told reporters on Thursday.

"I'm not going to comment on what the issue is," Saban said via AL.com. "They'll know for sure when they do the surgery and we'll let you know what the outcome of the surgery is when they do it. But other than that I think we're well along."

Tomlinson made his Crimson Tide debut last week against Virginia Tech. The 6-foot-2, 287-pound redshirt freshman was listed as the second-team defensive end behind Jeoffrey Pagan and recorded four tackles in the win.

Alabama does not play this weekend, giving them a few extra days to prepare for their rematch against Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M in College Station on Sept. 14.
