Johnny Manziel has taken a more active approach to social media recently, promising a return "in time" on his Instagram account and retweeting web content that mentions or focuses on the former Texas A&M star.
Manziel has also been candid on Twitter, reflecting on simpler times in College Station, Texas. Texas A&M's official account has been counting down the days until the start of college football season and used a highlight of Manziel's 49-yard touchdown run against UTEP in 2013 for its 49-day mark. The Heisman Trophy winner saw the highlight and shared it with a message.
"chills* I love A&M with all my heart I'm truly sorry," Manziel wrote. "I'll do whatever I can to make it right.I'm an AGGGIE for life."

Manziel has promised that a return to football will come but at the moment he has no NFL employer or direct path back to an NFL roster. So while Manziel is rehabbing his career, why not return to the place where being an "Aggie for life" is the most important credential for acceptance?
If Manziel is getting chills and apologizing profusely to Texas A&M fans, then why not do it in person? A Manziel appearance on the sidelines might create a sideshow that Kevin Sumlin and the school would prefer to avoid, but as of the SEC Media Days, it sounds like the Texas A&M coach still has Johnny Football's back.
It's not likely that Manziel would be a guest assistant coach or anything like that; however, if the Texas A&M life is calling, it might not be a bad idea to return to the place where the legend began for a week or so. Picture it now: Johnny Manziel on one sideline of Kyle Field watching Josh Rosen, another outspoken young star, lined up with UCLA on the other. It'd be opening-weekend fireworks for everyone involved.
