Michigan wide receiver Grant Perry was accused of sexually assaulting a Michigan State student and later resisting arrest -- a felony -- in connection with an Oct. 15 incident outside of a bar in East Lansing. On Wednesday, the junior reached a plea deal with Ingham County authorities that dropped the sexual assault charges from his conviction.
Details from the Lansing State Journal include Perry, 20, telling the judge his side of the story from that night.
"We tried to cut in line and we got into an argument," Perry said, via the LSJ. "I proceeded to push her out of my way."
According to police reports, a 21-year-old Michigan State student started arguing with Perry after he cut a "a line of about 20 or 25 people" and the sexual assault occurred during the altercation. According to his attorneys, Perry maintained that he did not sexually assault the woman.
Perry pleaded guilty to one count of resisting a police officer -- which is a felony -- and one misdemeanor count of assault and battery.
Jim Harbaugh confirmed Perry was back working out with the team earlier this month, but clarified that he would not play in any game until the situation was resolved. Perry, with on-field experience in 23 games, enters 2017 as one of the top returning wide receivers following the exit of Amara Darboh, Jake Butt and Jehu Chesson.
