Big-12 Injury Report
QB Collin Klein, Kansas State, (undisclosed)
Next game: at TCU, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET (FOX)
No one knows exactly what forced Heisman-frontrunner Collin Klein out of last weekend’s game against Oklahoma State, and coach Bill Snyder wasn’t going to reveal any details. “Let’s cut to the chase,” Snyder said to the Washington Post. “Would I expect him to play? I certainly hope that’s the case, and I would expect that to take place.” Needless to say, Snyder sounds optimistic about his star quarterback’s status.
RB Shawne Alston, West Virginia, (thigh)
Next game: at Oklahoma State, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC)
Alston saw his first significant playing time in last weekend’s double-OT loss to TCU after missing the last five games with a deep thigh bruise. He carried the ball just seven times for 16 yards and estimated that he’s about 65-70 percent healthy. “It was just something way worse than everybody thought it was,” he said to MetroNews. “It’s like a buildup of pressure in your leg.”
QB Wes Lunt, Oklahoma State, (head)
Next game: vs. West Virginia, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC)
Lunt may not play Saturday against the Mountaineers after suffering a head injury in last weekend’s loss to Kansas State. Lunt was just getting back into rhythm after recovering from an ankle injury that sidelined him for three games earlier this season. He was expected to practice this week, but if he can’t go, senior Clint Chelf will earn the start against the Mountaineers. Chelf threw for 233 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the second half last week vs. Kansas State.
SEC Injury Report
RG Josh Williford, LSU, (concussion)
Next game: vs. No. 21 Mississippi State, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Williford is practicing but hasn't played in three straight games since suffering the concussion Oct. 6 at Florida. He's considered probable.
DE Dee Ford, Auburn, (abdominal)
Next game: vs. No. 5 Georgia, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2)
The injury has limited Ford the past several weeks and caused him to miss the Ole Miss game on Oct. 13, but he appears fully healthy for Saturday. “Just one of those weird injuries. It was where rest was really going to be vital. There really isn’t much treatment you can do,” he said to AL.com. Ford has three sacks on the season, including one vs. New Mexico State last weekend.
RG Chris Burnette, Georgia, (shoulder)
Next game: at Auburn, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2)
Burnette, who has started 19 straight games, missed his third straight practice Wednesday and won't start Saturday vs. the Tigers. He injured his left shoulder in last week's win over Ole Miss, but coach Mark Richt said Burnette likely will travel with the team to Auburn and still might play.
TE Chris Gragg, Arkansas, (leg)
Next game: vs. No. 8 South Carolina, Saturday, noon ET (CBS)
Gragg's frustrating season continues. After returningon Oct. 27 from a three-week absence, he re-aggravated a bone bruise on his leg and was forced to sit out again last week against Tulsa. It doesn't look like he'll play this week either; coach John L. Smith listed him as doubtful. Reserve TE Austin Tate will play a bigger role if Gragg can't go. Starting running back Knile Davis, who missed last weekend’s win over Tulsa with a pulled hamstring, is 50-50 for Saturday’s game, according to Smith.
RB Eddie Lacy, Alabama, (ankle)
Next game: vs. No. 15 Texas A&M, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS)
Lacy sustained a minor ankle injury in last Saturday’s win over LSU. He was limited in practice earlier this week, but by Wednesday he was reportedly back running through drills at full speed. He is expected to play against the Aggies. Tide wideout Amari Cooper is recovering from a sore ankle and is expected to play on Saturday as well. Cooper came out of the game in the second quarter last weekend, leaving without a catch for the first time all season. Coach Nick Saban said he is optimistic that his leading receiver will play.
Illinois LB Jonathan Brown, who is tied for the team lead with 59 tackles and leads the Illini with 9.5 tackles-for-loss, is week-to-week with a shoulder injury. (US Presswire) |
Big Ten Injury Report
DT Jordan Hill, Penn State, (knee)
Next game: at No. 16 Nebraska, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC)
Hill, one of the senior leaders on the Nittany Lions, was limited in practice this week and listed as day-to-day on the Penn State injury report. The Nittany Lions could certainly use his presence as they try to limit Taylor Martinez from scrambling through the line of scrimmage. Fortunately for Penn State, TE Kyle Carter, the team’s second-leading receiver with 35 catches for 441 yards, practiced this week and is likely to play vs. the Huskers. He didn’t travel to Purdue last week and instead stayed in Happy Valley to get treatment on an ankle injury suffered against Ohio State.
LT Ricky Wagner, Wisconsin, (knee)
Next game: at Indiana, Saturday, noon ET, (ESPN2)
Wagner, the Badgers’ anchor on the offensive line, has missed the past two games after another OL fell on the back of his leg three weeks ago against Purdue. Fortunately, it was just a knee sprain and the Badgers’ bye week has given him extra time to recover. Wisconsin will need Wagner because it’s reportedly going to give fifth-year QB Curt Phillips his first career start after Phillips battled back from three ACL tears. Phillips’ timing could be off, and any extra protection Wagner could afford should help.
LB Jonathan Brown, Illinois, (shoulder)
Next game: vs. Minnesota, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network)
Brown injured his shoulder in the loss last weekend to Ohio State and is week-to-week, according to his coach Tim Beckman. Brown is tied for the team lead with 59 tackles and leads the Fighting Illini with 9.5 tackles-for-loss.
WR A.J. Barker, Minnesota, (ankle)
Next game: at Illinois, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network)
Barker, the Gophers' leading wide receiver, is doubtful for Saturday’s game vs. the Fighting Illini. Barker has twice as many catches as the next leading receiver on the Gophers and has seven touchdowns this season. He sat out last weekend’s loss to Michigan as well.
Big East Injury Report
DE Lorenzo Mauldin, Louisville, (knee)
Next game: at Syracuse, Saturday, noon ET (ABC)
Mauldin, the Big East Week 8 defensive player of the week, injured his knee two weeks ago against Cincinnati and isn’t expected to play in Saturday’s game vs. the Orange. He has 4.5 sacks on the season.
QB B.J. Daniels, South Florida, (ankle)
Next game: at Miami (Fla) Nov. 17.
Daniels, a senior who has 14 touchdowns and more than 2,000 yards passing this season, broke his ankle last weekend against Connecticut and his career at South Florida is over. He finished with 10,501 career total yards. The Bulls will now turn to redshirt freshman Matt Floyd, who has completed just four passes all season. At least South Florida will have a bye week to install him in the offense before facing the Hurricanes.
K Kyle Federico, Rutgers, (hip)
Next game: vs. Army, Saturday, noon ET (ESPNU)
Federico has been sidelined for the past three games, but coach Kyle Flood said earlier this week that Federico had started kicking field goals live, though he's not 100 percent. His status remains uncertain for Saturday against Army. Backup Nick Borgese is 2 for 2 in FG attempts in the past three games, including a 42-yarder in the loss to Kent State last week.
Georgia Tech QB Tevin Washington was held out of practice this week for various aches and pains but is expected to be ready to go for Saturday's game against North Carolina. (US Presswire) |
ACC Injury Report
LB Denzel Perryman, Miami, (ankle)
Next game: at Virginia, Saturday, noon ET, (ABC)
Perryman was limited in practice this week and is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Cavaliers. He’s been wearing a walking boot on his right ankle. The Hurricanes aren’t likely to have free safety Deon Bush for Saturday’s game. Bush suffered a stinger in his shoulder in last Thursday’s win over Virginia Tech and was significantly limited in practice this week.
WR Stefon Diggs, Maryland, (ankle)
Next game: at Clemson, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPNU)
Diggs was wearing a walking boot all week, and Thursday he was declared out for Saturday's game against Clemson. A 6-1 freshman, Diggs has 43 receptions for 721 yards and six touchdowns this season, and two of his TDs came last Saturday in the Terrapins' loss to Georgia Tech.
QB Tevin Washington, Georgia Tech, (undisclosed)
Next game: at North Carolina, Saturday, 12:30 p.m. ET (ACC Network)
Washington was held out of practice on Tuesday due to various aches and pains, but he returned on Wednesday in anticipation of Saturday’s game against the Tar Heels. The Yellow Jackets quarterback is a run-first QB who's often more susceptible to hits. Offensive tackle Will Jackson isn’t expected to play because of a shoulder injury that’s kept him out the past two games.
Pac-12 Injury Report
QB Zach Maynard, California, (knee)
Next game: vs. No. 3 Oregon, Saturday, 10:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Maynard sprained his knee in the 21-13 loss last Friday to Washington and is listed as doubtful for Saturday’s game against the Ducks. He practiced Tuesday but was carted off the field wearing a brace to keep his knee immobilized. Backup Allan Bridgford, a junior, is expected to start. Bridgford has just 216 passing yards in his career and just 32 this season. The Bears will also have to play without leading receiver Keenan Allen (737 yards, six touchdowns), who’s also dealing with a knee injury. Allen missed last weekend’s game as well, and the Bears managed just 201 yards through the air.
DE Dion Jordan, Oregon, (shoulder)
Next game: at California, Saturday, 10:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)
The star defensive end is questionable for Saturday’s game after re-injuring his shoulder in last week’s win over USC. Jordan logged just three tackles vs. the Trojans, his third-lowest total of the season. Defensive tackle Isaac Remington (14 tackles, one sack) is questionable as well after injuring his left leg last week.
QB Matt Scott, Arizona, (head)
Next game: vs. Colorado, Saturday, 1:30 p.m. ET (FX)
Scott is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Buffaloes after sustaining a possible concussion in the 66-10 pounding at the hands of UCLA last week. Coach Rich Rodriguez said the final decision on Scott’s status would come from the team’s medical staff. He’s averaging 316 yards per game, seventh-most in the country.
CB Jordan Poyer, Oregon State, (knee)
Next game: at No. 14 Stanford, Saturday, 3 p.m. ET (FOX)
Poyer, one of the top defensive backs in the country, is expected to return from a knee sprain that forced him to miss last weekend’s win vs. Arizona State. Poyer has five interceptions and 27 tackles this season. Before missing last weekend’s game, Poyer had played in 44 straight games for the Beavers. Oregon State starting RB Storm Woods is also expected to play. He missed the game vs. the Sun Devils with a knee injury.
