Florida QB Jeff Driskel will miss Saturday's game against Jacksonville State because of a sprained ankle. (US Presswire) |
SEC Injury Report
QB Jeff Driskel, Florida, (ankle)
Next game: vs. Jacksonville State, Saturday, 1 p.m. ET (ESPN3)
Driskel sprained his right ankle against Louisiana-Lafayette last week and has been ruled out for Saturday, with Jacoby Brissett set to start. Coach Will Muschamp said he doesn't know if Driskel will be ready to face rival Florida State in Tallahassee on Nov. 24.
RB Zac Stacy, Vanderbilt, (leg)
Next game: vs. Tennessee, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2)
Stacy left early in last week's game against Ole Miss with a leg injury. Coach James Franklin's policy is to not discuss injuries with the media, but Stacy is listed as the starter on the team's official depth chart for this week and he has been going through most of practice. Wesley Tate is Stacy's primary backup.
LB Curt Maggitt, Tennessee, (ACL)
Next game: vs. Vanderbilt, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2)
Maggitt, the team leader with five tackles for loss, is done for the season with a torn ACL sustained against Missouri last week. Expect senior LB Willie Bohannon to get more playing time with Maggitt out.
RB Knile Davis, Arkansas, (hamstring)
Next game: vs. Mississippi State, Saturday, 12:21 p.m. ET (SEC Network)
Davis has missed the last two games, but he's expected to play against the Bulldogs this weekend. He ran for 187 yards and two TDs the last time he played Mississippi State, but don't expect those kind of numbers this week. He'll be splitting time with Dennis Johnson, who has emerged as the team's top RB.
DE Abry Jones, Georgia, (ankle surgery)
Next game: vs. Georgia Southern, Saturday, 1:30 p.m. ET (ESPN3)
Jones has missed the last four games and won't play in the final two regular-season games or SEC Championship Game. But coach Mark Richt said "there's a good shot" Jones will play in the bowl game.
Big Ten Injury Report
LB Etienne Sabino, Ohio State, (leg)
Next game: at Wisconsin, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC)
Sabino broke his leg the first week of October against Nebraska. He's missed the last four games but began practicing with the team during Ohio State's recent bye week, and Urban Meyer said he's going to start. Sabino, a captain, is one of the team's best tacklers and will be integral to stopping Wisconsin's ground attack.
RB Rex Burkhead, Nebraska, (knee)
Next game: vs. Minnesota, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network)
Burkhead's senior season has been wrecked by a knee sprain suffered earlier in the year, but he's hopeful that he'll be able to play Saturday in his final home game at Memorial Stadium. Burkhead practiced on Monday and said he's "pretty close" to returning to the field. "My last home game here, being a senior, it would mean the world to get out on the field," he said to reporters.
QB Denard Robinson, Michigan, (arm)
Next game: vs. Iowa, noon ET (ESPN)
Robinson has missed the past two games with an ulnar nerve injury and coach Brady Hoke is being coy about his status. Like Burkhead, Saturday is Robinson's final game at the Big House, so even if Robinson can't start at QB, Hoke said he'd consider getting him on the field another way.
RB Venric Mark, Northwestern, (shoulder)
Next game: at Michigan State, Saturday, noon ET (ESPN2)
Mark, the Big Ten's third-leading rusher, injured his shoulder after getting slammed to the ground late in last weekend's loss to Michigan, but he is expected to play against the Spartans. Freshman cornerback Nick VanHoose has missed the past two games with a shoulder injury and is questionable for Saturday's game. The secondary has been Northwestern's Achilles' heel this season, and they could have used him last weeked as the Wolverines took advantage of blown coverage late in the game.
Oregon safety Avery Patterson, who scooped up this fumble in the Ducks' win over Colorado, is out for the season with a torn ACL. (US Presswire) |
Pac-12 Injury Report
QB Zach Maynard, California, (knee)
Next game: at No. 16 Oregon State, Saturday, 10:30 p.m. ET (Pac-12 Network)
Maynard missed last week’s loss to Oregon with a knee injury and is likely to sit for this Saturday’s affair as well. The program’s all-time leading receiver, Keenan Allen, is likely to miss his third straight game due to a sprained PCL he suffered on Oct. 27 vs. Utah. Both of their college careers are likely over as Maynard is a senior and Allen, a junior, is expected to test the NFL draft waters.
QB Cody Vaz, Oregon State, (ankle)
Next game: vs. California, Saturday, 10:30 p.m. ET (Pac-12 Network)
Vaz injured his ankle on the second-to-last offensive play of last week’s loss to Stanford, and coach Mike Riley announced that Sean Mannion, a sophomore who started the season as the Beavers’ top QB, will start. Vaz replaced Mannion three weeks ago after Mannion threw four interceptions in a loss to Washington. Vaz hasn’t been able to practice this week.
S Avery Patterson, Oregon, (knee)
Next game: vs. No. 13 Stanford, Saturday, 8 p.m. ET (ABC)
Patterson tore his ACL last weekend against California and is done for the season. He had 41 tackles and three interceptions, two of which were returned for scores. The Ducks defensive line is also facing a barrage of injuries. Defensive tackles Wade Keliikipi injured his leg and won’t play Saturday; DT Taylor Hart (foot) and DE Dion Jordan (shoulder) are both hurt but may suit up against the Cardinal. They were both listed on the Ducks’ two-deep depth chart, and Jordan didn’t play last week vs. Cal.
QB Marcus Mariota, Oregon, (shoulder)
Next game: vs. No. 13 Stanford, Saturday, 8 p.m. ET (ABC)
Mariota was shaken up last week after landing hard on his shoulder but returned to the game and finished with 377 passing yards to beat California. He said he's fine and expects to play. Running back Kenjon Barner briefly left the game as well with an apparent hand injury but returned later in the first half.
QB Matt Scott, Arizona, (head)
Next up: at Utah, Saturday, 10 p.m. ET (ESPNU)
Scott is doubtful for Saturday’s game against Utah, the second-straight game he’ll likely sit. If Scott can’t play, B.J. Denker should get another start after an excellent performance last week against Colorado. Denker completed 12 of 14 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns vs. the Buffaloes.
RB Silas Redd, USC, (undisclosed)
Next game: at No. 17 UCLA, Saturday, 3:05 p.m. ET (FOX)
It should come as no surprise that Trojan coach Lane Kiffin chose to keep Redd’s injury a secret. Kiffin has been a lightning rod of controversy, in some part due to his unwillingness to cooperate with reporters. Southern California's leading rusher didn’t play last Saturday vs. Arizona State and was replaced by Curtis McNeal, who rushed for a season-high 163 yards and two touchdowns. Redd did practice this week on Thursday, but the only thing Kiffin would say is that he “hopes” Redd is available.
Big 12 Injury Report
S Ty Zimmerman, Kansas State, (leg)
Next game: at Baylor, Saturday, 8 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Not unlike Kiffin, Kansas State coach Bill Snyder doesn’t disclose much about his team’s injuries. Zimmerman left last week’s game against TCU with a leg injury, and his status is unknown. He’s tied for the Big 12 lead with five interceptions and is excellent in pass coverage. The Wildcats’ secondary would certainly benefit if he could play against the second-best passing team in the country (367 ypg).
C Gabe Ikard, Oklahoma, (head)
Next game: at West Virginia, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET (FOX)
Sooner captain Gabe Ikard missed last weekend’s game vs. Baylor but was cleared to play on Wednesday, according to coach Bob Stoops. He had started every game this season prior to last week.
QB Trevone Boykin, TCU, (shoulder)
Next game: at No. 15 Texas, Thursday, 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Redshirt freshman Trevone Boykin injured his shoulder in the first quarter of last week’s loss to Kansas State but returned later in the first half. He’s expected to play against the Longhorns on Thursday night, but his protection will need to be significantly better if the Horned Frogs want to maintain his health. Boykin has been sacked 17 times this season, the most of any Big 12 quarterback.
RB Shawne Alston, West Virginia, (thigh)
Next game: vs. Oklahoma, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET (FOX)
In Alston’s second game since returning from a deep thigh bruise that has mostly derailed his season, the senior finished with just one carry last weekend vs. Oklahoma State. He’s clearly not the same running back who had 12 touchdowns last year. Leading wideout Stedman Bailey (ankle) said he isn’t yet 100 percent, but he did tie the school record with 14 catches for 225 yards last week vs. the Cowboys, so expect him to play a big role against the Sooners.
North Carolina kicker Casey Barth is out for the season with an ankle injury he suffered while trying to make a tackle, but it doesn't appear serious enough to jeopardize his chances to play in the NFL. (US Presswire) |
ACC Injury Report
K Casey Barth, North Carolina, (ankle)
Next game: at Virginia, Thursday, 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Barth, a senior, injured his ankle while he was assisting with a tackle on kickoff coverage in last week’s loss to Georgia Tech. He is out for the rest of the season. Barth was recently named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza award given to the nation’s top kicker and, fortunately, the injury isn’t expected to be a long-term detriment. He still maintains hopes of playing in the NFL. His brother, Connor, kicks for the Buccaneers.
CB Maurice Canady, Virginia, (undisclosed)
Next game: vs. North Carolina, Thursday, 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Canady, a true freshman, has started the last two weeks at corner for the Cavaliers and earned two straight ACC co-defensive back player of the week honors. He is listed as doubtful for Thursday’s game.
LB Denzel Perryman, Miami, (ankle)
Next game: vs. South Florida, Saturday, 3 p.m. ET
Perryman didn’t play last weekend against Virginia because of an ankle injury but should be available for Saturday’s game against the Bulls. He’s had 26 tackles in the last three games he’s played in.
WR Stefon Diggs, Maryland, (ankle)
Next game: vs. No. 10 Florida State, Saturday, noon ET (ESPNU)
The Terps’ leading receiver (six touchdowns, 721 yards) is questionable for Saturday’s game against Florida State. He sat during last weekend’s loss to Clemson and is just the latest Maryland player whose season has gone off course due to injuries. Leading rusher Wes Brown played through a shoulder injury earlier season but has since been plagued by an ankle injury that held him out of last weekend’s game. After his ankle didn’t hold up during practice this week, the team decided to shut him down for the remainder of the season to prevent further damage to his shoulder. He’ll have surgery on his left shoulder on Friday, according to the Washington Post.
Big East Injury Report
QB B.J. Daniels, South Florida, (ankle)
Next game: at Miami (Fla.), Saturday, 3 p.m. ET
The senior quarterback's season is over after sustaining a broken ankle against Connecticut on Nov. 3. Daniels will end his career with 10,501 career total yards. The Bulls will rely on redshirt freshman Matt Floyd to anchor the offense, which will also be without play-making running back Lindsey Lamar (clavicle). Floyd has completed just four passes this season but should benefit from South Florida’s bye week heading into Saturday’s game.
RB Senorise Perry, Louisville, (knee)
Next game: vs. Connecticut, Saturday, Nov. 24, noon ET (Big East Network)
Perry, the Cardinals’ leading rusher, will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL in Louisville’s first loss last week to Syracuse. Louisville has employed something of a two-headed monster in the backfield with Perry along with Jeremy Wright (680 yards, nine touchdowns) all season, but now freshman Corvin Lamb may be counted on as well for the final two regular season games.
RB Jawan Jamison, Rutgers, (ankle)
Next game: at Cincinnati, Saturday, noon ET (Big East Network)
Coach Kyle Flood said that Jamison wouldn’t play if the game was today but said he has a “75 percent” chance of going up against the Bearcats on Saturday. Jamison is the team’s leading rusher with 953 yards, but if he can’t go, sophomore Savon Huggins figures to play a prominent role in Rutgers’ rushing attack. “I’ve seen these things go both ways,” Flood said to the Star-Ledger. “It wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t react well to [practice], it wouldn’t surprise if he did react well to what he did today.”
RB Montel Harris, Temple, (knee)
Next game: at Army, Saturday, noon ET, (CBS Sports Network)
Harris is expected to play Saturday against Army after injuring his knee last week in the loss to Cincinnati. Coach Steve Addazio said Monday that Harris is “doing well” and that he “feels good” about his chances of playing. Harris has nearly 600 yards and five touchdowns this season.
