McLaurin spent his 2019 rookie season on injured reserve after fracturing his foot before even suiting up for a preseason game. He faced long odds to make the final roster anyway after the Giants made multiple defensive additions this offseason.

Giants' Mark McLaurin: Long odds to make roster
McLaurin (foot) may have a tough time making the Giants' season-opening roster, Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com reports.
The 23-year-old suffered a broken foot early in training camp last year and spent the entire season on injured reserve. McLaurin joined the Giants as a UDFA in May 2019 but enters training camp in 2020 with minimal experience due to the injury.

Giants' Mark McLaurin: Officially on IR
McLaurin (foot) was officially placed on the Giants' injured reserve list Saturday, Ryan Dunleavy of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
This move was just a matter of time, as McLaurin fractured his foot earlier in the week at practice. The undrafted free agent was looking to earn a spot on the team's final roster as a rookie, but will now have to set his sights on the 2020 season and his recovery to get there.

Giants' Mark McLaurin: Suffers broken foot
McLaurin was diagnosed with a fracture in his foot after he was stepped on in practice Saturday, Tom Rock of Newsday reports.
McLaurin left practice Saturday with an undisclosed injury, and that injury finally came to light. The team didn't give any timetable for his return, but the expectation is that he'll be out indefinitely. He signed as an undrafted free agent this offseason, and compiled 64 total tackles and forced a fumble in his senior season with Mississippi State.

McLaurin signed a contract with the Giants on Thursday.
McLaurin went undrafted out of Mississippi State, but he'll get his first NFL opportunity in New York. After picking off six passes during the 2017 campaign, he compiled 64 total tackles and forced a fumble in his senior season with the Bulldogs.
