  • Broncos' Courtland Sutton: Another unproductive day

Sutton recorded one reception on four targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Steelers.

Sutton was an afterthought in Sunday's defeat, as he finished fifth on the team in targets. His lone reception came midway through the third quarter on a deep pass down the sideline. Positively, he was also targeted in the end zone, but Bo Nix's pass was picked off. It's been a concerning start to the season for Sutton as he has only five receptions and 64 yards on 16 targets through two contests.

  • Broncos' Courtland Sutton: Limited to 33 percent catch rate

Sutton had four receptions off of 12 targets for 38 yards in Sunday's Week 1 loss to the Seahawks.

Bo Nix's start to his career in Denver did not go well as a passer (no touchdowns and two picks), and Sutton fell victim to the effects of the rookie rollercoaster to kick off the regular season. The veteran wideout has the skills to produce big fantasy totals, but he will require improved quarterback play to do so. Those invested in Sutton should not lose faith in the wideout ahead of next Sunday's tilt against New England.

  • Broncos' Courtland Sutton: Significant role on tap in 2024

Sutton is set to be the Broncos' unquestioned No. 1 wide receiver for the 2024 campaign and has made improvements to his game this offseason, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

Entering the 2024 season, Sutton is on track to operate as Denver's top receiver while serving as a reliable target for rookie quarterback Bo Nix. According to Kosmider, the veteran pass catcher often "looked like Nix's security blanket at times during training camp." A developing connection between Sutton and Nix would serve the 28-year-old wideout well for fantasy purposes, as his elevated role in the offense should lead to consistent opportunities. Head coach Sean Payton understands Sutton's impact on the Broncos' success, stating "I would say he is important, and I think he knows that." While becoming more comfortable in Payton's system, the 6-foot-4, 216-pounder has worked to fine-tune his technique as a receiver, stating "I feel like this year, so far, I have been seeing so much more of an improvement in my route detail and my route technique." Based on his skill development and comfort within the scheme, Sutton figures to be a key piece of Denver's passing attack this season.
