Panthers' Kiondre Thomas: Inks deal with Panthers
Carolina signed Thomas to a contract on Friday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Thomas has played in five games since entering the NFL in 2021, with four of those coming in his rookie season with the Chargers and one coming last year as a member of the Packers. The Kansas State product has yet to play a defensive snap, as he's been limited so far to work on special teams. Thomas also played in the UFL with the Houston Roughnecks this spring, accumulating 14 tackles (11 solo) and an interception that he returned for 52 yards over six games.

Kiondre Thomas: Heads to practice squad
Thomas reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Thomas played on nine special-teams snaps against the Eagles in Week 9, but the cornerback failed to see the field for any of the Chargers' defensive plays. Thomas heads back to the practice squad to await his next opportunity to see the field in regular-season action.

Thomas was elevated from the Chargers' practice squad to their active roster ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Eagles.
Thomas signed with the Chargers' practice squad in September after being waived by the Browns in the offseason. The rookie may have a chance to make his NFL debut Sunday, as the Chargers will be without Asante Samuel (concussion) and Michael Davis (hamstring) during their Week 9 matchup against the Eagles.

The Browns waived Thomas (hamstring) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Friday, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.
Thomas suffered a hamstring injury in Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars and was initially placed on the Browns' injured reserve after he cleared waivers. Although the severity of the cornerback's injury still isn't clear, he'll be eligible to play in 2021 if he lands a contract with another team.
