Jones was a DNP on Wednesday, and his upgraded participation Thursday -- although limited -- indicates that he's trending in the right direction when it comes to his foot injury. Jones' practice participation Friday will provide clarity on his status for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. The 2020 third-round pick has accrued 13 tackles (seven solo) through the first two games of the regular season.

Jones appears to have sustained a foot injury during the Broncos' Week 2 loss, as the 26-year-old was held out of Wednesday's practice. The Texas product's participation Thursday and Friday will likely provide a better indication of his availability for Week 3. If Jones is unable to go Sunday, expect Devon Key to step in and work with Denver's first-team defense.

Broncos' Brandon Jones: Left off injury report
Jones (hamstring) was not listed on the Broncos' injury report Wednesday, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.
Jones suffered a hamstring injury early in training camp, which kept him out of all three of Denver's preseason games. The 2020 third-round pick inked a three-year contract with the Broncos in March after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Dolphins. Jones is slated to start at free safety, with P.J. Locke starting on the strong side.

Broncos' Brandon Jones: Expected to be out 1-to-2 weeks
Broncos head coach Sean Payton indicated Saturday that Jones (hamstring) will miss 1-to-2 weeks, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Jones suffered a hamstring injury during practice Friday and will consequently be sidelined for a short period. Based on the recovery timeline mentioned by Payton, the fifth-year pro has a good chance of being past the injury well before the start of the regular season. Jones is slated to take on a starting role at safety for Denver during the upcoming campaign.

The Broncos are slated to ink Jones to a three-year contract, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Jones logged an impressive end to his rookie deal in Miami with 48 tackles (36 solo), four pass breakups, two interceptions and one forced fumble (which he recovered) in 2023. The soon-to-be 26-year-old should be able to solidify a Denver defense that's struggled under coach Sean Payton. The Broncos could continue adding to the safety room, but for now, Jones and P.J. Locke look like the likeliest candidates to start the 2024 campaign.

Jones, a 2020 third-round pick, handled his usual reserve role at safety for Miami, starting six contests due to injuries ahead of him on the depth chart. He performed admirably when given the opportunity, especially in a Week 15 win over the Jets in which he logged two INTs. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Dolphins work to retain Jones on a team-friendly deal this offseason, given his fit and familiarity in the secondary.
