Jets' Adonai Mitchell: Returning to practice in limited fashion
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that Mitchell (finger) will be a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Mitchell will take part in practice for the first time since Week 3, after missing the Jets' last four games due to an injury to a finger on his right hand that he ultimately needed surgery to address. While the wideout's return to practice in any fashion is an encouraging sign, he may need to turn in a full session by Friday in order for the Jets to feel confident in his chances of suiting up Sunday versus the Dolphins. If Mitchell winds up missing a fifth consecutive game, rookie first-round pick Omar Cooper would likely continue to enjoy an expanded profile in the New York passing game behind top target Garrett Wilson.

Mitchell (finger) has been ruled out for Sunday's game, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Mitchell will miss a third straight game and hasn't practiced at all the past two weeks. Tim Patrick and Isaiah Williams took most of the WR snaps alongside Garrett Wilson last week, but rookie Omar Cooper (IR - ankle) may soon throw his hat into the ring.

Mitchell has yet to resume practicing in any capacity since Sept. 25 and is viewed as week-to-week after recently undergoing what head coach Aaron Glenn termed as a small procedure on his hand. Glenn notes that Mitchell is able to move his fingers around well following the procedure, but the fact that the wideout is still being classified as week-to-week suggests that he's tracking toward a fourth consecutive absence Sunday at New England. Though Mitchell appears likely to sit out this weekend, the Jets could get some reinforcement to their receiver corps in the form of rookie first-round pick Omar Cooper (ankle), who had his 21-day practice window opened Wednesday and could be a candidate to return from injured reserve for Sunday's game.

Mitchell (finger) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Mitchell will miss his third straight game, and coach Aaron Glenn refused to provide any clarity on the situation Friday, saying he "doesn't know" if Mitchell is dealing with a sprain or fracture, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. With Mitchell out again, Isaiah Williams and Sterling Shepard will continue to soak up wideout snaps behind Garrett Wilson. Neither Williams nor Shepard is a particularly intriguing fantasy option.

Mitchell (finger) is out for Sunday's game against the Bears, Zack Rosenblatt reports.
With Mitchell out last week, fellow wideout Isaiah Williams played 90 percent of snaps but drew just two targets on 39 routes. Sterling Shepard saw just one target on 22 routes as the No. 3 receiver, while WR Garrett Wilson got 13 targets and the tight ends combined for 14. Williams and Shepard could see a bit more volume this week, but the offense still figures to run through Wilson, the RBs and the TEs. As for Mitchell, his next chance to play will be Week 5 against Cleveland (Oct. 11).

Mitchell sat out this past Sunday's loss to the Lions and could be trending toward a second consecutive absence Sunday against the Bears after being unable to practice Wednesday or Thursday.
