Draft Scouting Report
Enrique Cruz Jr. is an athletic offensive tackle who proved his durability and versatility by anchoring the Kansas line in 2025. He brings impressive lateral movement and speed to the field, making him particularly effective when blocking in space or pulling on run plays. While he has the frame and length for the professional level, he must continue to refine his balance and core strength.
- 2025: 12-game starter at right tackle for Kansas
- 2021-24: Allowed two sacks over four years at Syracuse (24 games, 18 starts)
- Fluid mover in space with effective second-level blocking ability.
- Long arms that help him recover and sustain blocks.
- Reliable lateral quickness as a backside blocker in zone schemes.
- Needs to improve functional strength to anchor against power rushers.
- Prone to oversetting, which leaves him vulnerable to inside counters.
- Tendency to play with high pad level, leading to balance issues.
- 40-yard dash: 4.94 seconds
- Vertical jump: 35 inches
- Broad jump: 9 feet, 8 inches

49ers' Enrique Cruz: Selected by San Francisco
The 49ers selected Cruz in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 179th overall.
Cruz (6-foot-6, 313 pounds) might lack the size and reach (33 and 3/4-inch arms) to stick at tackle, but the Kansas product is extremely athletic and might be able to develop into a noteworthy guard if tackle doesn't work out. It didn't work out at tackle when Cruz was at Syracuse from 2021 to 2024 -- he was benched as left tackle after starting there in his sophomore and junior years. Cruz played right tackle with more success for Kansas, but his 4.9 speed and 35-inch vertical still might work better at guard.
