Bears' Luther Burden: Three catches in loss
Burden caught three of four targets for 35 yards and rushed once for 10 yards in Sunday's 19-16 loss to Detroit.
Burden went without a catch in the first half before reeling in three passes after the break. The wide receiver was unable to build off of his recent momentum, recording his fewest catches since Week 12 and his lowest yardage total in four weeks. Burden will finish his rookie campaign having caught 47 of 60 targets for 652 yards and two touchdowns while also turning six carries into 37 yards over 15 regular-season contests, and he'll now make his postseason debut in the wild-card round against the Packers next weekend.

Bears' Luther Burden: Elevated role projected for Sunday
Burden is in line to serve as the Bears' No. 2 receiver again in Sunday's Week 18 matchup against the Lions due to Rome Odunze (foot) being ruled inactive for the contest.
Burden has taken ample advantage in the three games he's played during Odunze's current absence, posting an 18-289-1 line on 22 targets in that span. The rookie is coming into Sunday fresh off a career-best eight-catch, 138-yard, one-touchdown effort against the 49ers last Sunday night, and he'll look to exploit a Lions secondary that's been significantly impacted by injury.

Bears' Luther Burden: Practices in full Thursday
Burden (quadriceps) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
Burden was limited in Wednesday's practice due to the quad injury he suffered on the last play of Chicago's loss to San Francisco in Week 17, and it now appears he's fully recovered in time for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Lions. Meanwhile, fellow wideout Rome Odunze (foot) remained sidelined at practice Thursday and seems an unlikely candidate to play Week 18, given that the Bears have already clinched the NFC North but do not have a path to claiming the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture.

Bears' Luther Burden: Logs limited practice Wednesday
Burden (quadriceps) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday.
Burden suffered what eventually was called a quad injury on the final play of this past Sunday's loss at San Francisco. Coach Ben Johnson told Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com on Wednesday that the Bears are "hopeful" that Burden will be able to play Sunday versus the Lions. Ultimately, how Burden fares in practice Thursday and Friday will determine if he enters the weekend with a designation for Week 17 action. Meanwhile, fellow WR Rome Odunze (foot) remained sidelined at practice, while Olamide Zaccheaus (illness) practiced in full, so the latter, DJ Moore, Jahdae Walker and Devin Duvernay are the healthy options at the position on the Bears' active roster.

Bears' Luther Burden: Avoids major injury
Burden is believed to have suffered a minor quad injury during Sunday night's 42-38 loss to the 49ers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Burden was injured on the final play of Sunday's game and had to be carted off the field, after the rookie second-round pick broke out with a career-high 138 receiving yards and one TD while securing eight of nine targets. He'll undergo further testing Monday, but it's encouraging that the team believes he avoided a serious injury. Chicago has already clinched the NFC North and can't claim the No. 1 seed in the conference and a first-round bye in the playoffs, so Burden could be held out as a precaution for the team's regular-season finale at home against the Lions in Week 18, regardless of the test results.

Bears' Luther Burden: Hurt on last play after 138 yards
Burden (leg) was seen grabbing his left hamstring on the way to the X-ray room after getting injured on the final play of Sunday's 42-38 loss to the 49ers, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Burden stayed down in the end zone after Caleb Williams threw an incompletion from the 2-yard line as Chicago came up just short in a back-and-forth battle. Prior to the injury, Burden posted a breakout performance, racking up career highs in catches (eight) and receiving yards (138) on nine targets, including a 35-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter. The Bears have clinched the NFC North and will close out the regular season with a Week 18 home game against the Lions.

Bears' Luther Burden: Set to play Sunday
Burden (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in San Francisco.
Burden sat out a Week 16 matchup with the Packers due to an ankle injury that he suffered one week prior against the Browns, but after getting back to a full practice Friday, he's in the clear for Week 17 action. With Rome Odunze (foot) still sidelined, Burden will be among the top WRs available to the Bears offense this weekend along with DJ Moore and Olamide Zaccheaus.

Bears' Luther Burden: Limited listing Thursday
Burden (ankle) was listed as limited on Thursday's practice estimate.
Burden now has put together back-to-back limited listings on Bears injury reports since he sat out Week 16 against the Packers due to an ankle issue, potentially putting himself in a position to return to action Sunday at San Francisco. Meanwhile, fellow WR Rome Odunze (foot) again was listed as a DNP on Thursday. In the end, Friday's practice report will unveil if either Burden or Odunze have a chance to see Week 17 action.

Bears' Luther Burden: Limited in return to practice
Burden (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday.
This marks Burden's first official on-field work since he suffered an ankle injury Week 15 against the Browns. He may need to upgrade to full participation Thursday or Friday in order to avoid a designation ahead of Sunday's game at San Francisco, but he appears to be a better bet to return to action Week 17 than fellow WR Rome Odunze (foot), who remained sidelined at practice Wednesday.

Bears' Luther Burden: Yet to resume practicing
Burden (ankle) wasn't spotted on the field Tuesday during the Bears' unofficial practice, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Burden was listed as a non-participant on all three of the Bears' practice reports in Week 16 before sitting out Saturday's 22-16 overtime win over the Packers. Rome Odunze (foot) was also sidelined for a third straight game, and with neither wideout logging any activity in an unofficial session Tuesday, both could be trending in the wrong direction for Sunday's game at San Francisco. If Burden and Odunze are both held out again in Week 17, DJ Moore would have a clearer path to added volume in the passing game after he contributed a 5-97-1 receiving line on seven targets in the win over Green Bay.
