Jaguars' LeQuint Allen: Ready for larger role
Allen is poised to operate as the No. 2 running back behind Travis Etienne beginning Sunday at Denver, and as long as Bhayshul Tuten (finger) has to be sidelined, Paul Bretl of USA Today reports.
Allen has regularly handled the No. 3 backfield role behind Tuten this year, but across 14 regular-season appearances he's looked solid in limited opportunities. On the season, Allen has carried the ball 18 times for 81 yards and secured 10 of 11 targets for 54 yards, while also piling up 486 yards as a kick returner. Head coach Liam Coen praised Allen as a player who "runs violently and has taken care of the football," while quarterback Trevor Lawrence expressed confidence that the rookie seventh-round pick will "take this opportunity, run with it, and play well." That said, Allen's first opportunity to show what he's capable of in the No. 2 role will come versus a stingy Denver defense, so it may be prudent not to set expectations too high.

Jaguars' LeQuint Allen: Five touches in blowout win
Allen carried four times for 11 yards, caught his lone target for five yards and returned one kickoff for 50 yards during Sunday's 48-20 win against the Jets.
The rookie seventh-round pick played 18 offensive snaps, with most of his touches coming with Jacksonville leading comfortably during the fourth quarter. Allen continues to see sporadic playing time as a passing down back but has received more than two offensive touches in just two games this season.

Jaguars' LeQuint Allen: Two catches in win
Allen caught both his targets for eight yards and returned two kickoffs for 52 yards during Sunday's 36-19 win against the Colts.
The rookie seventh-round pick's 16 offensive snaps were his highest total since Week 10, though he didn't see much action until the fourth quarter of the blowout victory. No. 2 tailback Bhayshul Tuten had a reduced role after losing a fumble in the second quarter, but starter Travis Etienne soaked up most of those reps. Allen could step into the backup job if Tuten continues to have issues with ball security, but Allen appears locked into the No. 3 job for now.

Jaguars' LeQuint Allen: One carry Week 12
Allen carried once for two yards during Sunday's 27-24 overtime win against the Cardinals.
The rookie seventh-round pick totaled eight carries for 36 yards in Week 11's blowout victory, but he was minimally involved In Sunday's overtime win. Allen remains locked in as Jacksonville's No. 3 tailback behind Travis Etienne and Bhayshul Tuten.

Jaguars' LeQuint Allen: Garners eight garbage-time carries
Allen rushed eight times for 36 yards and returned two kickoffs for 55 yards during Sunday's 35-6 win against the Chargers.
Travis Etienne and Bhayshul Tuten (ankle) combined for 34 carries, with Allen stepping in for mop-up duty on the final drive of the blowout victory. Allen has played double-digit snaps in all but one game this season, but Sunday's contest was the first time he received more than two offensive touches. The rookie seventh-round pick could move up to No. 2 on the depth chart if Tuten is forced to miss some time, but Allen still wouldn't be likely to see much meaningful action if Etienne remains healthy.

Jaguars' LeQuint Allen: Plays season-high 22 snaps
Allen had one carry for 10 yards and caught his only target for one yard during Sunday's 30-29 win against the Raiders.
The 21-year-old played a season-high 22 offensive snaps but was significantly less involved than fellow rookie tailback Bhayshul Tuten, who had 10 touches on 20 snaps. Allen has played double-digit offensive snaps in seven of eight games this year but has just five carries for 32 yards and six receptions for 35 yards. He appears locked in as the Jaguars' No. 3 running back behind Tuten and starter Travis Etienne.

Jaguars' LeQuint Allen: Makes one catch vs. 49ers
Allen caught his only target for seven yards in Sunday's 26-21 win over the 49ers.
The rookie running back from Syracuse now hasn't received a carry in consecutive weeks, despite playing 32 offensive snaps during that span. Allen played fewer offensive snaps than backfield mates Bhayshul Tuten (18) and Travis Etienne (39) in Sunday's win, suggesting he currently remains the No. 3 RB in Jacksonville. The 21-year-old is likely to remain involved in Jacksonville's offense ahead of a Week 5 matchup against the Chiefs, playing primarily on passing downs.

Jaguars' LeQuint Allen: Targeted once in win
Allen secured his only target for nine yards during Sunday's 17-10 win over Houston.
Allen handled 21 of 70 offensive snaps versus the Texans, working ahead of Bhayshul Tuten (12 snaps). That workload split was in large part due to the heavy ratio of passing situations that confronted Jacksonville's offense Week 3, which favor Allen's change-of-pace skill set. Allen will remain involved in a No. 3 backfield role Week 4 against the 49ers, but Tuten is still the primary backup to Travis Etienne.
