Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Poor reaction to benching
Stevenson pulled himself out of practice Wednesday when he was informed of his benching for Sunday's game against the Cardinals after his actions late in the Bears' Week 8 loss to the Commanders, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.
Stevenson is still expected to be rotated in for Sunday's game, though Terell Smith will likely serve as one of the Bears' starting cornerbacks opposite Jaylon Johnson. His move to the bench for Week 9 comes after Stevenson was seen making celebratory gestures toward Washington fans prior to the final snap of last week's loss, resulting in him being out of position defensively before he tipped the ball in the air on quarterback Jayden Daniels' Hail Mary attempt, which landed in the arms of wideout Noah Brown for a game-winning touchdown for the Commanders. Stevenson is still expected to reclaim his starting role in Week 10 against the Patriots.

Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Unlikely to start Week 9
Stevenson isn't expected to start in Sunday's game against the Cardinals, but he will be active for the contest and is expected to rotate with Terell Smith, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Stevenson had started in each of the Bears' six games that he's been healthy enough to play thus far, logging 35 tackles, six pass breakups and an interception, which he returned for a touchdown in a Week 1 win over the Titans. However, Stevenson will be on the bench to begin Sunday's contest as a punishment for his actions on the final play of last week's 18-15 loss to the Commanders, when Chicago gave up a 52-yard Hail Mary touchdown with no time remaining. Prior to the final snap, Stevenson was seen making celebratory gestures toward Washington fans, which caused him to be late to get in position for Jayden Daniels' Hail Mary. Stevenson ultimately got his hand on the ball, only to tip it up in the air and into the waiting hands of Commanders receiver Noah Brown, who secured the touchdown catch. Stevenson has since expressed contrition for his role on the final play, and he's expected to be back in the starting lineup in Week 10 against the Patriots.

Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Nine tackles in losing effort
Stevenson recorded nine tackles in the Bears' 18-15 loss to the Commanders on Sunday.
Though Stevenson set a new season high in tackles, he attracted negative attention when he appeared to taunt Commanders fans before the final play of the game. Stevenson then arrived late to the scrum at the goal line while awaiting Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels' Hail Mary attempt, knocking the ball in the air and into the waiting hands of Washington receiver Noah Brown for a game-winning touchdown with no time remaining. Despite his poor execution on the final play, Stevenson remains locked into a starting role in the Chicago secondary opposite Jaylon Johnson. Through six games, Stevenson has tallied 35 tackles, six pass breakups and one interception, which he returned for a touchdown in Week 1.

Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Ready to rock
Stevenson (calf) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Commanders.
Stevenson upgraded from limited work both Wednesday and Thursday to a full session Friday, suggesting that he's moved past his calf issue in time for Sunday's contest. Expect the second-year pro to start opposite Jaylon Johnson as part of Chicago's top cornerback duo in Week 8.

Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Limited participant Wednesday
Stevenson (calf) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice.
Stevenson missed the Bears' last two games before their Week 7 bye due to a calf injury. The extra rest helped the 2023 second-round pick return to practice Wednesday, albeit in a limited capacity. Stevenson will have two more chances to increase his practice participation and avoid an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Commanders.

Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Not playing Sunday
Stevenson (calf) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars in London.
Stevenson's absence was fully expected, as he was listed as doubtful heading into the weekend after he was a limited participant in Thursday's practice before sitting out Friday's session entirely. With the Bears on bye Week 7, Stevenson will have some extended time to recover from the calf issue before potentially returning to action for Chicago's Oct. 27 game in Washington in Week 8.

Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Doubtful for London game
Stevenson (calf) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Stevenson injured his calf in practice Thursday and subsequently sat out Friday's practice, leaving him unlikely to play Sunday in London. If Stevenson sits as expected, Chicago's cornerback depth behind Jaylon Johnson will be tested, as backup Terell Smith (hip) didn't travel with the team to London. Jaylon Jones could draw the start on the outside in a Bears secondary that's also missing starting safety Jaquan Brisker (concussion).

Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Added to injury report
Stevenson (calf) was a limited participant in practice Thursday.
Stevenson wasn't a part of Wednesday's injury report, so he may have picked up the injury during practice. The 24-year-old will work to increase his activity level Friday, or he may be in danger of missing Sunday's game against the Jaguars in London.

Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Pick-six in victory
Stevenson recorded four tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown in the Bears' 24-17 win over the Titans on Sunday.
Stevenson had an impressive rookie season in 2023 with 86 tackles and four interceptions. The cornerback could not have had a better start in 2024, as he helped lead the Bears to a victory in a game in which their offense struggled. Stevenson has the potential to be a strong weekly IDP at cornerback.

Bears' Tyrique Stevenson: Expected to retain starting role
Stevenson is projected to be the starting outside cornerback for the Bears, playing across from Jaylon Johnson.
After Chicago selected Stevenson in the second round of the 2023 draft, he moved right into a full-time role. Although Stevenson recorded at least six tackles in five of his first eight games, he didn't have another game with more than five tackles until Week 18. It is possible the cornerback continues to improve in his second year, and if that happens, Stevenson may become a more more consistent IDP option.
