Chiefs' Leo Chenal: Shifts to IR
Chenal (shoulder) was placed on the injured reserve list Saturday.
Chenal sustained a shoulder injury in the Week 15 loss to the Chargers and had already been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Titans, but following his placement on IR, he'll be forced to miss the remainder of the season. The Wisconsin product appeared in 14 games and recorded 58 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, and two passes defensed, with one interception. Cooper McDonald is likely to have a larger role on the Chiefs' defense while Chenal misses the rest of the 2025 season.

Chiefs' Leo Chenal: Won't play Sunday
Chenal (shoulder) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Titans.
Chenal didn't practice all week after likely sustaining a shoulder injury in the Week 15 loss to the Chargers, so it's no surprise he won't play Sunday. The 25-year-old has appeared in 14 games this season, recording 58 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, and two passes defensed, with one interception. While he's sidelined in Week 16, Jack Cochrane could have an expanded role with the Chiefs' first-team defense.

Chiefs' Leo Chenal: Dealing with shoulder issue
Chenal (shoulder) won't practice Wednesday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
Despite playing 37 defensive snaps and recording three total tackles, including 0.5 sacks, in the Week 15 loss to the Chargers, Chenal appears to have sustained a shoulder injury. The Wisconsin product likely needs to upgrade to at least limited practice Thursday or Friday to have a chance at suiting up for Sunday's matchup against the Titans.

Chiefs' Leo Chenal: Registers six tackles in Week 12
Chenal (knee) tallied six tackles (three solo) during the Chiefs' 23-20 overtime win over the Colts on Sunday.
Chenal was active on both defense (27 snaps) and special teams (24 snaps) during Sunday's OT win and finished with the fourth most tackles on the Chiefs. He was limited in Monday's practice due to a knee issue, but he was a full participant in Tuesday's session, which puts him on track to play Thursday against the Cowboys. Through 11 regular-season games, Chenal has tallied 49 tackles (22 solo), including 1.5 sacks, and two pass defenses (one interception).

Chiefs' Leo Chenal: Tallies four tackles Sunday
Chenal logged four tackles (one solo) and a pass defended in Kansas City's loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
Chenal had a productive outing in the loss despite playing only 48 percent of the team's defensive snaps. The 2022 third-round pick has recorded four or more tackles in eight of his 10 appearances this season and is now just 22 tackles shy of his career-high mark of 65 set back in 2023.

Chenal finished the 2024 season with 60 tackles (40 solo), including 1.0 sacks, three pass breakups and three forced fumbles across 17 regular-season games.
Selected in the third round of the 2022 Draft, Chenal has appeared in all 17 games in each of his first three seasons, but his 14 starts in 2024 marked a new career best. He played 41 percent of the Chiefs' defensive snaps and 68 percent of the downs on special teams. Chenal mainly served as an early-down thumper at linebacker alongside Nick Bolton. Chiefs' Leo Chenal: Able to play Week 16
Chenal (illness) is not among Kansas City's inactives for Saturday's tilt against the Texans.
A late-week illness resulted in Chenal being given a questionable tag Friday, but the third-year pro will ultimately be able to suit up. Chenal logged a season-low 17 percent of the Chiefs' defensive snaps against Cleveland last Sunday, though he impressed with four tackles and a forced fumble in that limited amount of action. He's been impactful both on defense and special teams this season, but Chenal hasn't logged more than 45 percent of Kansas City's defensive snaps since Week 7 versus San Francisco.
