  • Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Officially done for the season

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn confirmed Monday that Daniels (elbow) will be shut down for the team's final three games, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.

Quinn said the decision is "part medical, part team," and that Daniels will still practice once cleared to do so. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports, however, that upon being medically evaluated Monday, the second-year quarterback was not yet cleared for contact. After an outstanding rookie campaign in 2024, Daniels now concludes Year 2 with just seven regular-season appearances in which he completed 114 of 188 pass attempts for 1,262 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed 58 times for 278 yards and two scores. Marcus Mariota will remain Washington's starting QB for the rest of the year, beginning Saturday against the Eagles.

  • Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Being shut down for the year

The Commanders do not intend for Daniels (elbow) to start any of the team's final three regular-season games, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Daniels was medically evaluated Monday and has not yet been cleared for contact, making it likely that he will be unable to gain clearance for Saturday's game against the Eagles. Washington will follow that contest up with a short practice window before facing the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football in Week 17, leaving only Week 18's rematch against Philadelphia as a realistic target for Daniels' return -- one that the Commanders see little upside in risking the franchise quarterback's health for. While head coach Dan Quinn hasn't yet officially announced that Daniels is done for 2025, the expectation is that Marcus Mariota will line up under center for the final three weeks while Daniels turns his full focus toward his rehab.

  • Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Not cleared for contact yet

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said Friday that Daniels (elbow) hasn't been cleared for contact, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Daniels will miss his seventh game of the season Sunday against the Giants, but Quinn hasn't ruled the second-year quarterback out beyond Week 15 and once again suggested that he won't be shut down for the season unless he's truly unable to play. In any case, Marcus Mariota will fill in for Daniels once again Sunday.

  • Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Not cleared for contact

Daniels (elbow) has not been cleared for contact, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Daniels re-injured his dislocated left elbow in his first game back in the lineup, making an early exit from the blowout loss at Minnesota in Week 14. The Commanders will now start Marcus Mariota in Week 15 against the Giants, but Daniels hasn't been ruled out beyond that despite not having clearance for contact.

  • Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Ruled out for Week 15

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday that Daniels (elbow) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Daniels suffered a left elbow injury during Washington's blowout loss to the Vikings in Week 14, and though it was reported that the second-year QB could have re-entered the contest and is not dealing with a long-term issue, backup Marcus Mariota will draw at least one more start. It remains to be seen whether Daniels could be sidelined longer than just Week 15, as his return versus Minnesota was his first game action since Week 7. Adam Schefter of ESPN confirms that he has not suffered any structural setbacks. Daniels' next chance to take the field will come Week 16 at home against the Eagles on Saturday, Dec. 20.
