He hasn't been elevated from the practice squad all season, and he'll now look to catch on with a team in need of a scout quarterback. Mac Jones and C.J. • John Rhys Plumlee: Joins Jacksonville's practice squad

The Jaguars signed Plumlee to their practice squad Friday.

Plumlee signed with Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent in late April and saw limited preseason action, playing in just one game and completing three of four pass attempts for 32 yards. Jacksonville has Trevor Lawrence and Mac Jones as its two quarterbacks on the active roster, so Plumlee will work on the practice squad as the team's No. 3 QB. That role had previously looked to be reserved for E.J. Perry, who initially joined the team's practice squad Wednesday but was cut one day later.

He was brought in to complete against Kyle Allen for the No. 3 quarterback job behind Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Plumlee didn't see any action until the Steelers' preseason finale against the Lions on Saturday, during which he completed three of four passes for 32 yards. Assuming he clears waivers, Plumlee will look to catch on with another team, likely as a practice-squad quarterback.
