Top Woody Marks News

  • Texans' Woody Marks: Held in check by Pats

Marks carried the ball 14 times for 17 yards and caught two of three targets for 19 yards during the Texans' 28-16 loss to the Patriots in the divisional round Sunday. He also lost a fumble.

Houston couldn't get much of anything going on the ground, and Marks' turnover was one of five by the Texans and eight in total by both teams in cold, wet conditions at Foxborough. Marks went the entire regular season without losing a fumble, so ball security shouldn't be an issue for him in 2026, and the fourth-round pick out of USC had a successful rookie campaign with 911 scrimmage yards and five total TDs in 16 regular-season games. It remains to be seen whether the Texans will look to expand his role next year or bring in a back more adept at running between the tackles to work in tandem with Marks.

  • Texans' Woody Marks: Back in Sunday's game

Marks (shoulder) returned to Sunday's divisional-round game against the Patriots, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Marks had exited the contest to have his shoulder checked out, but he was subsequently deemed able to return to action. He'll continue to pace Houston's backfield in a game in which two of the team's top pass catchers, Nico Collins (concussion) and TE Dalton Schultz (calf), are unavailable.

  • Texans' Woody Marks: Hurts shoulder Sunday

Marks exited Sunday's divisional-round game against the Patriots due to a shoulder injury.

Before his departure from the game, Marks carried eight times for seven yards and caught one of his two targets for six yards. While Marks is sidelined, Nick Chubb, Dare Ogunbowale and British Brooks are Houston's available backfield options.

  • Texans' Woody Marks: First 100-yard game of career

Marks took 19 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown while failing to catch his only target in Monday's 30-6 playoff win over Pittsburgh.

Marks saved his best performance of the season for the first playoff appearance of his professional career while helping make easy work of the Steelers on Monday Night Football. He did exit the contest briefly in the first half to be evaluated for a concussion before promptly returning without issue. The upstart rookie also registered the first 100-plus yard rushing game of his career after spending most of the regular season splitting backfield work with veteran Nick Chubb. The latter remained involved with 10 carries for 48 yards, but a significant portion of the backup's work came in garbage time. Marks will face a stiff test on the road against the Patriots on Sunday, but the rookie provides the highest upside out of the Texans backfield for the divisional round.

  • Texans' Woody Marks: Cleared to return

Marks cleared concussion protocol and will re-enter Monday's wild-card game against the Steelers, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Marks hit his head hard on the turf late in a Texans' drive in the second quarter and was evaluated for a concussion in the medical tent. He will return after missing only a handful of plays and likely continue to lead Houston's backfield.

  • Texans' Woody Marks: Being evaluated for concussion

Marks is questionable to return to Monday's wild-card game against the Steelers due to a head injury.

Marks hit his head hard on the field on a carry midway through the second quarter. He is in the medical tent being evaluated for a concussion. Marks had just started to get going on the ground prior to his departure, picking up 51 yards on nine carries.

  • Texans' Woody Marks: Limited workload in Week 18

Marks carried the ball 10 times for 48 yards and caught two of three targets for zero yards in Sunday's 38-30 win over the Colts.

The Texans wound up sitting many of their starters, including Marks, in the second half as their chances of winning the AFC South slipped away in Jacksonville. As a result, British Brooks led the team with 63 rushing yards. Marks didn't take on a significant role in the Houston offense until Week 4, but the 2025 fourth-round pick still wrapped up his first NFL season with 911 scrimmage yards and five total TDs (two rushing, three receiving) over 16 games. He'll lead the Texans backfield into a wild-card clash with the winner of Sunday's night's AFC North battle between the Ravens and Steelers.

  • Texans' Woody Marks: Handles 20 touches

Marks rushed the ball 19 times for 71 yards in Saturday's 20-16 win over the Chargers. He added one reception on two targets for four yards.

Marks regained his typical role after a one-game absence caused by an ankle injury, accounting for 19 of the 28 carries by Houston's backfield. As has often been the case, he wasn't particularly efficient with his opportunity, turning in a long gain of 19 yards but also having five of his rush attempts go for zero or negative yardage. While it was an uninspiring performance, Marks did manage at least 75 yards from scrimmage for the second time in his last three full games.
