Roberts will be placed on injured reserve due to a season-ending knee injury, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Roberts injured his knee during special-teams drills in Thursday's joint practice against the Steelers. Further tests revealed that the injury is severe enough to keep the undrafted free agent sidelined for the entire 2025 season, and he'll focus toward being healthy for 2026.

Buccaneers' J.J. Roberts: Suffers knee injury

Roberts was able to walk off the field under his own power, but Stroud relays that the safety's injury could be a serious one. Roberts signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in May and has been competing for a depth secondary spot on the 53-man roster.
