The Brewers designated Shewmake for assignment Friday, Hunter Baumgardt of Fox Sports 920 Milwaukee reports.
Shewmake's stint with the Brewers ends after less than two weeks with the big-league club. After appearing in four games, the 28-year-old went 2-for-7 with a double, one RBI, two runs scored and three strikeouts. Milwaukee reinstated David Hamilton from the 10-day injured list to take Shewmake's spot on the active roster.
