The Nationals placed Garcia on the paternity list Tuesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Garcia will likely miss the remainder of the Nationals' series in Atlanta before rejoining the team Friday in Baltimore. Trey Lipscomb has taken Garcia's roster spot and Amed Rosario will likely handle second base while Garcia is away.
