The Rangers designated Anderson for assignment Thursday.
Anderson will end up as the odd man out of a roster spot to make room for Kumar Rocker, who was promoted for his MLB debut Thursday in Seattle. The 36-year-old Anderson owns a 5.40 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 58.1 innings in the majors this season, though another team in need of long-relief help may be interested in adding him to their bullpen for the final few weeks of the year, though he won't be playoff eligible with a new organization.
