Ornelas was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.
Ornelas collected one hit and struck out four times in seven at-bats since being promoted Sept. 9. He was sent down Monday along with Sam Huff to make room for Josh Jung (thumb) and Adolis Garcia (knee), who were both activated from the 10-day injured list.
