Cotts' minor league contract was selected by the Rangers, and he was assigned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Cotts has pitched 21.0 innings for a 3.86 ERA and 1.14 WHIP as a reliever at the Triple-A level in 2016. He was released by the Yankees on June 13. The veteran relief pitcher will be used mostly for organizational depth in the bullpen.
