Mahle did not factor into the decision in Monday's loss to Boston, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out seven.
The Texas righty generated 15 whiffs en route to his seven punchouts, as he fired 92 pitches in this performance. However, Mahle did struggle with his control at times -- a hallmark of those returning from an elbow injury -- as he allowed three free passes against a patient Red Sox team that took walked nine times total in the contest. After his first 9.2 innings with the Rangers, Mahle's ERA now stands at 2.79 with 9:4 K:BB. He is scheduled to make his next start against the Twins at home this weekend.
