• Deolis Guerra: Let go by Oakland

  The Athletics released Guerra on Aug. 5. Signed to a minor-league deal this past season, Guerra spent the first half of the 2023 campaign completing his recovery from April 2022 Tommy John surgery. He began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League in late June before returning from Triple-A Las Vegas' 60-day injured list in early July. He made just three appearances for Las Vegas before returning to the 7-day IL on July 17 and then being cut loose three weeks later. The 34-year-old reliever has previously made 134 MLB appearances, but none since 2021.

  Triple-A Las Vegas placed Guerra on its 7-day injured list July 17 with an unspecified injury. After completing his recovery from April 2022 Tommy John surgery, Guerra made his season debut for Las Vegas on July 4. The right-hander made three relief appearances before returning to the IL two weeks later, though it's unclear if he was deactivated due to a setback with his surgically repaired elbow or because of an unrelated injury.

  Guerra (elbow) signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics on Monday. Guerra was a fairly prominent contributor out of the Oakland bullpen in 2021, maintaining a 4.11 ERA and 1.11 WHIP across 65.2 innings. However, Guerra underwent Tommy John surgery in April and missed the entire 2022 season. He was non-tendered by the club earlier in the offseason and will now have to earn back his spot on the 40-man roster once healthy.

  The A's declined to tender Guerra (elbow) a contract for 2023. Guerra underwent Tommy John surgery in April and missed the entire 2022 season. The righty is a journeyman at 33 years old, but he pitched well for the A's in 2021 (4.11 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) and there will likely be many teams interested in seeing how he looks post-surgery.

  Guerra underwent reconstructive surgery on the UCL in his right elbow Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The A's announced Guerra's elbow procedure last week, but it wasn't previously specified as Tommy John surgery. The 32-year-old will miss the rest of the season and likely the first half of the 2023 campaign while going through his recovery and rehab.
