  Tejada accepted a minor-league deal with the White Sox on Friday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. He will meet the Triple-A club in Norfolk for a weekend series. Tejada had been playing at Triple-A with the Phillies until being cut in late August. The 31-year-old hit .232/.342/.263 with Lehigh Valley.

  Tejada agreed Wednesday with the Phillies on a minor-league contract, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. Tejada most recently spent the 2020 season as a member of the Blue Jays' 60-man roster pool, but he never received a call-up to the big leagues. An immediate opportunity at the MLB level won't be available in Philadelphia either, so Tejada will likely have to bide his time at Triple-A Lehigh Valley with the hope of eventually getting a promotion. The 31-year-old infielder owns a .250/.324/.317 slash line over 663 career games in parts of nine seasons in the majors.

Tejada was included on the Blue Jays' 60-man roster to begin the season, but no major-league opportunity presented itself. The 31-year-old veteran has mainly worked at the Triple-A level over the past several seasons and slashed .326/.404/.471 with six home runs and 42 RBI with Triple-A Syracuse in 2019.

  Tejada will be a part of the Blue Jays' 60-man roster. Tejada spent the majority of 2019 with Triple-A Syracuse, slashing .326/.404/.471 with six home runs and 42 RBI over 73 games before he was released by the Mets in late August. He was a non-roster invitee for the Blue Jays this spring and went 3-for-18 with five RBI and four runs. The team has young talent in their major-league middle infield heading into 2020, but Tejada could compete for a veteran role with the team once play resumes.

The 30-year-old went hitless in nine plate appearances with the Mets last season, but he spent most of the year at Triple-A and performed well with a .326/.404/.471 slash line in 73 games. Toronto has its future middle infield in the majors with Cavan Biggio and Bo Bichette, but Tejada could carve out a role as a veteran utilityman with a strong showing in spring training.
