Torres agreed Monday with the Giants on a minor-league contract, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. Torres will move on to his fourth organization of the season after stints with the Padres, Tigers and Twins. The veteran right-hander saw his only MLB action with Detroit, appearing in four games in June and surrendering five earned runs over six frames. The 36-year-old will likely have difficulty cracking the San Francisco bullpen while he lacks a 40-man roster spot, but he'll at least provide some extra depth at Triple-A Sacramento after the organization traded away Ray Black and three other big-league relievers last week.

The Twins designated Torres for assignment Sunday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Torres was pushed off the 40-man roster after the Twins bolstered their bullpen Saturday with the acquisition of Sergio Romo from the Marlins. The Twins will have seven days to either trade, waive or release Torres. Since the 36-year-old righty has more than five years of MLB service time, he would have the luxury of refusing an outright assignment to Triple-A Rochester.

Torres' contract was selected from Triple-A Rochester prior to Wednesday's game against the Yankees. The 36-year-old righty was designated for assignment earlier this year by the Tigers, but he latched on with Minnesota and worked his way back to the majors. He logged a 4.15 ERA in 17.1 innings (eight appearances) and should offer some length out of the bullpen.

Torres agreed to a minor-league contract with the Twins on Tuesday, Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors reports. He recently elected free agency rather than an outright assignment to Triple-A as a member of the Tigers, but the deal with the Twins was apparently more to his liking. Torres will serve as organizational relief depth going forward.

Torres cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Monday. A 36-year-old with just 15.2 innings and an ERA of nearly 7 over the last two seasons was understandably not a particularly enticing option on the waiver wire. Torres will remain in an organizational depth role for the Tigers.
