Miller (4-5) allowed a hit and a walk while failing to record a strikeout over 1.2 scoreless innings, earning the win Sunday over the Padres. Spencer Bivens got the start but couldn't get through five innings. The Giants led 6-1 when Bivens was relieved by Miller, and they were able to hold the lead the rest of the way to give the southpaw reliever his first win since July 9. Since the start of August, Miller has a 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 21:11 K:BB over 14 innings. He's at a 3.65 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 78:34 K:BB with 12 holds over 61.2 innings this season.

Miller (3-3) allowed a run on a hit and a walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning Monday, taking the loss versus the Dodgers. Miller left runners on the corners in the eighth inning before getting the hook and Randy Rodriguez then gave up an RBI single to Teoscar Hernandez to put the decisive run on Miller's line. That ended the 26-year-old southpaw's scoreless streak at 10 innings. For the year, Miller has a 3.43 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 51:23 K:BB while adding 11 holds and three blown saves through 44.2 innings. With the Giants' rotation getting close to full health, it's likely Miller spends most of his time in a setup role after serving as an opener nine times earlier in the campaign.

Miller will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher in Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Miller will serve as an opener for the eighth time this season, and he's fared well in the role thus far, giving up just one earned run in 7.2 innings across his first seven starts. He'll likely work no more than inning or two before giving way to the bullpen, with right-hander Spencer Howard being the most likely candidate to handle the bulk of the innings.

Miller will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Cubs. Miller is operating as an opener for the sixth time this season. On the previous five occasions, Miller has never been asked to record more than five outs, so he's unlikely to remain in the game for more than two innings. Spencer Howard is expected to work in bulk relief behind Miller.
