• Nationals' Tony Campana: Assigned to minors camp

  Campana was assigned to minor league camp Monday. Campana missed all of 2015 with a torn ACL, which prompted the White Sox to release him prior to the season. The Nats signed Campana to a minor league deal last August, and the 29-year-old returned to baseball activities during the offseason. Campana figures to begin the year in Triple-A, the level at which he appeared in 100 games for the Angles and Diamondbacks organizations in 2014.

  Free agent outfielder Tony Campana has signed a contract with the Nationals, which will go through the 2016 season, according to CBS Sports Baseball Insider Jon Heyman. Campana has made a quick recovery after suffering a torn ACL in February and has been performing baseball activities for a month. He could provide the Nationals with a late-season bench option, according to Heyman.

  The White Sox have released outfielder Tony Campana on Thursday, according to MILB.com. Campana signed a minor-league contract with the club in the offseason, but tore his ACL while training. He's expected to miss the entire season while he recovers. The 28-year-old hit .187 over 75 at-bats last year.

  The White Sox announced Tuesday outfielder Tony Campana suffered a torn ACL during a recent training session and is expected to miss the 2015 season. Campana was headed to spring training on a minor-league deal. The 28-year-old Campana has played for the Cubs, Diamondbacks and Angels over four MLB seasons. He has a career .249/.296/.288/.583 slash line. He totaled a career-best 30 stolen bases in 2012 with the Cubs.

• Penny, Carroll among players signed to minor-league deals by ChiSox

  The White Sox announced Thursday they signed 15 players to minor-league contracts, which included invites to spring training. The 15 players were pitchers Jairo Asencio, Scott Carroll, Jesse Crain, Logan Kensing, Arcenio Leon, J.D. Martin, Brad Penny, Zach Phillips, Joe Savery, catchers George Kottaras and Geovany Soto, infielders Juan Diaz and Andy LaRoche, and outfielders Tony Campana and Michael Taylor.
