  • Matt Moore: Cut by Boston
    By RotoWire

The Red Sox released Moore (arm) on Thursday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports. Moore has been on the injured list at Triple-A Worcester all season due to arm soreness, but he'll now be sent to the open market before he gets a chance to take the mound in 2025. It's unclear how far Moore is from fully recovering from his arm injury, but he'll likely seek out a minor-league deal with another club once he's healthy.

  • Moore has been placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Worcester due to left arm soreness, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. It's not clear at this point how long Moore might be sidelined. The veteran left-hander was in Red Sox camp as a non-roster invitee but failed to make the Opening Day roster, and he won't be an option for the big club for a while.

  • Red Sox's Matt Moore: Not opting out
    By RotoWire

Moore has decided not to opt out of his contract and will begin the campaign at Triple-A Worcester, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports. As a veteran on a minor-league contract with over six years of service time, Moore had the option to opt out of his deal and look for an opportunity elsewhere. However, the lefty reliever appears set to accept a spot on Boston's Triple-A roster to begin the 2025 campaign. Moore suffered a forearm injury last August that ended a rough campaign with the Angels during which he posted a 5.03 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 48.1 innings. Moore didn't allow an earned run and posted a 2:2 K:BB over three innings this spring, and he'll be an option for a call-up when the Red Sox need reinforcements in their bullpen.

  • Red Sox's Matt Moore: Goes to Boston as NRI
    By RotoWire

The Red Sox signed Moore to a minor-league contract Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports. The Red Sox were looking for some left-handed relief depth with Zach Penrod going down with an elbow injury. Moore is coming back from an injury of his own, having missed the final month of last season with a left forearm strain. However, the southpaw has been throwing this offseason without any apparent issues, per Bradford. Moore held a 5.03 ERA and 41:26 over 48.1 frames with the Angels in 2024, but he was very effective from 2022 to 2023 with a 2.20 ERA and 27.4 percent strikeout rate. If heathy, the 35-year-old should have a good shot to make Boston's Opening Day roster.

  • Angels' Matt Moore: Moved to 60-day IL
    By RotoWire

The Angels transferred Moore (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Eric Wagaman. Moore's season is now officially over due to a left forearm strain which has kept him out since late August.
