  • Deglan signed a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays on Monday. The deal includes an invitation to big-league spring training, but Deglan will more than likely be bound for Triple-A Buffalo before the regular season gets underway. The 29-year-old backstop split time at the Triple-A level between Buffalo and the Yankees' affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2021, slashing .211/.320/.358 over 109 plate appearances.

  • The Yankees traded Deglan to the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports. It's unclear what New York received in the deal. The 29-year-old catcher hit .233/.281/.367 with a home run and three RBI in 12 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. With the Blue Jays, Deglan is unlikely to be viewed as anything more than organizational depth at his position.

  • Deglan was sent to minor-league camp Thursday. The move comes as no surprise as Deglan is not on the 40-man roster and has logged only 19 at-bats at the Triple-A level. The 27-year-old played in five Grapefruit League games, collecting three hits in five plate appearances, including one double.

  • Deglan (undisclosed) re-signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees, Baseball America reports. Deglan is a former first-rounder who gained prominence in the British Columbia Premier Baseball League before graduating high school. Since then, he has yet to rise higher than Double-A and he missed all of 2017 with an undisclosed injury. Still, Deglan is only 25 years old, and the year off may be just what he needs to improve on his .194/.256/.332 slash line from 2016.

  • Deglan has missed the entire season thus far with an undisclosed injury. The young catcher was held out of the World Baseball Classic in March after undergoing shoulder surgery, but he was able to participate in spring training after that so it's unclear if his absence is still connected to the same ailment. Deglan spent all of 2016 at the Double-A level for the Rangers, but he struggled to the tune of a .194/.256/.332 slash line before joining the Yankees organization over the offseason.
