Machado started off slow this year with six homers and 33 RBI in the first 70 games, and over his last 73 games he's turned things around with 21 homers and 69 RBI while hitting for a .305 average.

He added an RBI single in the fifth and then went yard again with another solo homer in the eighth, giving him 25 long balls on the year. It's a mark he's reached in all nine of his full-length seasons over the last 10 years, and he's within striking distance of reaching 30 homers for the eighth time in that span. The third baseman has added a .274/.326/.468 slash line with 89 RBI, 69 runs scored and nine steals over 134 contests.

He did most of his damage the following inning when he launched a three-run homer. It was his third home run and third multi-hit performance over his last five games. Over his last 30 games, Machado has gone 39-for-120 (.325) with 19 extra-base hits and 30 RBI. The hot streak has boosted his season slash line to .274/.325/.466 through 538 plate appearances.
