Interim manager Tony Mansolino said Tuesday that Sanchez (knee) will not return this season, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports. Sanchez hasn't played since July 5 but did begin a rehab assignment earlier this month. However, with Adley Rutschman and Samuel Basallo healthy, it doesn't make much sense to rush Sanchez back in a lost season. Sanchez will wrap up the 2025 campaign with a .231/.297/.418 slash line, five home runs, 24 RBI, 13 runs scored and a 4:27 BB:K across 101 plate appearances. Sanchez turns 33 years old in December and will be a free agent this winter.

Sanchez (knee) is with the team in Baltimore on Friday and will head out on a rehab assignment in five days, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports. Sanchez has been sidelined since early July due to a sprained right knee, but he's getting close to heading out on a rehab assignment. His current timeline would put him on track to return before the end of the regular season, but he may not have much playing time to come back to if Adley Rutschman (oblique) and Samuel Basallo are healthy.

The Orioles transferred Sanchez (knee) to the 60-day injured list Friday. The veteran catcher was ruled out 8-to-10 weeks after being diagnosed with a right knee sprain in early July, so it's not a surprise he eventually made his way to the 60-day IL. Sanchez will be eligible to be reinstated in early September, though it's unclear if he's expected to be available at that point.

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said Monday that Sanchez (knee) is likely to be sidelined 8-to-10 weeks, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Sanchez was diagnosed with a moderate PCL sprain in his right knee over the weekend and will be shelved for at least a couple months. The Orioles are also without Adley Rutschman (oblique), Maverick Handley (concussion) and Chadwick Tromp (back), leaving them with Jacob Stallings and Alex Jackson at catcher.

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said Sunday that Sanchez has been diagnosed with a moderate PCL sprain in his right knee, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports. Mansolino didn't offer up a timeline for Sanchez's return from the 10-day injured list, but given that his knee sprain isn't viewed as mild, the 33-year-old backstop seems unlikely to be ready to play when he's first eligible for activation at the start of the second half. Sanchez became the fourth Orioles catcher to hit the IL, joining Adley Rutschman (oblique), Maverick Handley (concussion) and Chadwick Tromp (back). None of the injured backstops have resumed baseball activities, so Jacob Stallings and the newly acquired Alex Jackson appear poised to serve as Baltimore's catching tandem though at least the All-Star break.
