Bonifacio signed a minor-league contract Thursday with the Royals. Bonifacio found a familiar landing spot after a long winter of waiting. He appeared in 187 major-league games with Kansas City between 2017-2019 before brief and unsuccessful stints with the Tigers and Phillies. The 29-year-old outfielder spent all of 2022 at Triple-A Lehigh Valley and slashed .240/.336/.407 in 112 games there.

Bonifacio's contract was selected from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday. Bonifacio was DFA'd by the Phillies on Tuesday, but he cleared waivers and will now rejoin the major-league roster as outfield depth after Luke Williams (undisclosed) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list. The 28-year-old has gone 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in two major-league appearances this season.

Bonifacio was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Tuesday. Bonifacio's contract was selected Friday, but he'll be dropped from the roster less than a week later after going 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts during his brief time with the team. His modest .243/.313/.396 career slash line would point to him likely passing through waivers unclaimed.

Bonifacio's contract was selected by the Phillies on Friday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Bonifacio landed a minor-league deal with the Phillies in late May, and he appeared in 71 games between the Double-A and Triple-A clubs. He slashed .273/.372/.546 with 15 home runs, 54 RBI, 49 runs and four stolen bases during that time, and he'll join the major-league roster after Mauricio Llovera was designated for assignment. Bonifacio is starting in center field and batting sixth in Friday's game against the Padres.
