The Yankees released Odor on Aug. 1. Signed to a minor-league deal April 10, Odor was assigned to the Florida Complex League and was immediately placed on the 7-day injured list when rookie-ball play got underway May 4. Odor never ended up appearing in any games at the FCL level or for another affiliate before the Yankees cut ties with the 30-year-old. If Odor pursues a return to affiliated ball in 2025, he'll likely have to settle for another minor-league deal, though retirement or a move to a foreign league may be a more realistic next step.

Odor signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Odor signed with Japan's Yomiuri Giants in January but never wound up playing for them. The 30-year-old was last with the Yankees in 2021, posting a .665 OPS with 15 home runs over 102 games, and he posted a similar OPS in 2022 and 2023 with the Orioles and Padres. Odor's contract contains a July 1 opt-out clause.

Odor signed with the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball on Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Odor slashed .203/.299/.355 with four homers and 18 RBI across 157 plate appearances with the Padres last season before being released in late July. After failing to draw interest from other MLB clubs, the 29-year-old infielder will attempt to rejuvenate his career in Japan.

The Padres released Odor on Monday. Odor was designated for assignment last week and has now officially cleared waivers. Other organizations will probably have some interest in the 29-year-old, though he might have to take a minor-league contract. Over 157 plate appearances with the Padres this season, Odor slashed .210/.306/.370 with four home runs and two stolen bases.

Odor was designated for assignment by the Padres on Tuesday. This move comes a few weeks after the Padres cut ties with Nelson Cruz. Odor was receiving semi-regular playing time out of the DH spot at one point, but he heads into DFA limbo having registered an overall .210/.306/.370 batting line with four homers and 18 RBI in 59 games (157 plate appearances) for San Diego.
