The Royals designated Nola for assignment Saturday, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports. Kansas City acquired outfielders Tommy Pham and Robbie Grossman via waivers, and Nola was one of the 40-man casualties along with infielder CJ Alexander. Nola surprised many with his initial success with the Mariners in 2019, but he's struggled to carve out consistent playing time in the majors in the season since. The 34-year-old has posted an ugly .158/.247/.301 line in 46 games with Triple-A Omaha in 2024.
