  • Orioles' Ronald Guzman: Reports for camp
    By RotoWire

Guzman (visa issues) reported to the Orioles' camp Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Guzman was absent for the start of camp due to visa issues but didn't end up missing significant time. The first baseman-turned-pitcher signed with the Orioles on a minor-league deal in January and is all but guaranteed to begin the season in the minors given his lack of pitching experience.

  • Orioles' Ronald Guzman: Waiting on visa
    By RotoWire

Guzman has yet to report to Orioles camp due to visa issues, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. The first baseman-turned-pitcher joined Baltimore on a minor-league deal in January and is attending big-league camp as a non-roster invitee. Guzman, who missed most of the 2023 season while recovering from a forearm strain, appears to be fully healthy after he made two relief appearances in the Dominican Winter League.

A former first baseman, Guzman converted to pitcher last year but wound up missing the season with a forearm injury. He returned to make a couple appearances in the Dominican Winter League, and the Orioles have elected to take a shot on the left-hander.

Guzman (forearm) was released by the Giants, per the MiLB's transaction log. Guzman was sent out on a rehab assignment Aug. 19 to the ACL Giants, and he was released one week later. The first baseman had been working his way back from a left forearm strain.

  • Guzman (forearm) said Tuesday that he expects to miss 6-to-8 weeks, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Guzman had been making a surprisingly-solid case for a spot in the Giants' bullpen before he suffered a pronator strain in his left forearm over the weekend. The former slugger will be in no-throw mode for the next four weeks and is probably going to have to prove his health -- and his stuff -- for a good while in the minors once he's deemed fit to return to the mound.
