• Rockies' Kyle Farmer: Headed to Colorado

  Farmer agreed to a one-year contract with the Rockies on Friday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Farmer's mutual option for 2025 was declined by the Twins on Oct. 31, causing the 34-year-old shortstop to enter free agency after spending the last two seasons in Minnesota. He mostly served in a reserve role in 2024 behind Carlos Correa, and across 242 plate appearances in 107 regular-season games, Farmer slashed .214/.293/.353 with five home runs and 25 RBI. Farmer will likely serve a similar role in Colorado behind the 23-year-old Ezequiel Tovar.

  The Twins declined Farmer's mutual option for 2025 on Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Farmer spent two years with the Twins and was in a reserve role for most of 2024. He managed only 242 appearances across 107 games while recording a .646 OPS. Farmer's defensive versatility could lead to him receiving a big-league deal this offseason, but he's unlikely to be a regular in most lineups.

  Farmer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins. Farmer has served as a short-side platoon player for much of the season, but he was included in the lineup in four of the Twins' last five games, with two of those starts coming against right-handed pitching. He'll take a seat against Marlins righty Edward Cabrera on Wednesday, though Farmer's playing-time outlook still appears to have improved with Matt Wallner's (oblique) recent move to the injured list creating an open spot in the lineup.

  Farmer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels. Farmer drew a rare start against a right-hander (Griffin Canning) in Tuesday's 10-5 win and came through with a big night, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, three RBI and an additional run. Though the home run was his second in as many days and helped bring his OPS up to 1.471 in September, Farmer looks like he'll remain in a short-side platoon role for the Twins.

  Farmer (shoulder) is starting a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A St. Paul, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Farmer has been out nearly a month due to a shoulder strain but has now been cleared for game action. The 33-year-old may not require a lengthy rehab stint before rejoining the Twins.
