Haase cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Haase was designated for assignment Monday after the Brewers acquired Danny Jansen to take over as their backup backstop. The 32-year-old will stick with the organization and serve as catching depth at Nashville.

With Danny Jansen joining the Brewers via trade with Tampa Bay, the Brewers needed to create a 40-man roster spot, and Haase is the odd man out in Milwaukee. Haase slashed .229/.289/.357 with two home runs, nine RBI, 11 runs scored and a 4:31 BB:K across 77 plate appearances this season.

William Contreras will stick in the lineup at designated hitter in a rare day off from catching, allowing Haase to enter the starting nine for just the 16th time all season. Though top backstop William Contreras remains in the lineup Wednesday, he's serving as the Brewers' designated hitter, which opens a starting role up for Haase in the series finale. Haase will be making his first start since June 4 and just his second since May 27, as Contreras continues to shoulder one of the heavier workloads among all catchers in the big leagues.

Haase has seen infrequent playing time so far this season, but he's been productive when called up, batting .292 (7-for-24) with two homers, four RBI and six runs in 13 games. With William Contreras attempting to play through a fractured finger in his glove hand, Haase's usage could be set to tick up.
