  • Williams was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Mariners on Tuesday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports. Williams re-signed with the Mariners at the end of January after impressing with Tacoma over 23.2 innings last season, finishing with a 1.14 ERA and 23 strikeouts against seven walks. He could help the Seattle bullpen in 2023, but he would need to be added to the 40-man roster.

  • Williams has re-signed with the Mariners on a minor-league contract with an invitation to major-league spring training. Williams joined the Mariners organization last July after being cut loose by the Giants, and he went on to post a 1.14 ERA with 23 strikeouts and only seven walks across 23.2 innings at Triple-A Tacoma. The 31-year-old right-hander hasn't appeared in a big-league game since 2021, but that could very well change in 2023.

The Giants released Williams from his minor-league deal Sunday. Williams had some fleeting fantasy relevance in 2020 when he picked up six saves for the Mariners, but he's struggled just to maintain a spot in a big-league bullpen in the two seasons since. He was unable to earn a look with the Giants at any point in 2022 before the organization elected to cut ties with him after he submitted a 6.81 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 45:17 K:BB in 39.2 innings with Triple-A Sacramento.

  • Williams was signed to a minor-league contract with the Giants on Sunday, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports. He is at their training camp as a non-roster invitee. Williams split time between the Padres and the Marlins last season, posting a 4.63 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 9:8 K:BB across 11.2 innings. The right-hander will compete for a job in the major-league bullpen this season, but he'll likely start the year with Triple-A Sacramento.
