The Giants released Camargo on Tuesday. Camargo will hit the open market after a one-month stint in the Giants organization. The utility player appeared in eight games for the big club last month but has spent nearly all of 2023 at the Triple-A level with three different organizations.

The Giants outrighted Camargo to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Camargo was designated for assignment Wednesday and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 29-year-old infielder has slashed just .209/.267/.314 over his last 110 major-league games (331 plate appearances) dating back to the beginning of the 2020 season.

He had been seeing regular action at shortstop of late for San Francisco but will now go through the waiver process.

The Giants selected Camargo's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Camargo just inked a minor-league deal with San Francisco on Saturday and had gone 2-for-9 with a homer and three RBI in two games with their Triple-A affiliate. The 29-year-old will likely operate as a backup option all across the Giants' infield.

The Giants signed Camargo to a minor league deal Saturday. Camargo joined his third organization in the 2023 season after being with the Royals and Tigers previously. All of his game this season have come at the Triple-A level, including Saturday's game for Triple-A Sacramento, in which he went 2-for-5. In the minors this season, the infielder is slashing .268/.348/.479.
