The 28-year-old got into six games with the Giants this past season, picking up a double and a home run in 15 plate appearances.

Reetz will stick around in the Giants organization as catching depth after he cleared waivers upon being designated for assignment Friday. The 28-year-old backstop has appeared in six games at the big-league level for the Giants in 2024 while going 2-for-14 with a solo home run and a walk.

The Giants recalled Reetz from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. Patrick Bailey (oblique) landed on the injured list Tuesday, so the Giants will now call upon Reetz to give the team some depth behind the plate while Curt Casali acts as the primary starter. Reetz has appeared in six games for San Francisco this season, going 2-for-14 with a home run and five strikeouts.

The Giants optioned Reetz to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday. The move makes room for the reinstatement of catcher Curt Casali from the paternity list. Reetz was called up from Sacramento on Tuesday. In his lone outing Thursday against the Nationals, Reetz went 1-for-2 with one double and one walk. In the minors this season, he's slashing .250/.362/.428 with five home runs and 31 RBI across 214 plate appearances.

The Giants selected Reetz's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. He'll serve as the backup to top catcher Patrick Bailey for the next few days while Curt Casali (personal) is on paternity leave. Reetz will likely be removed from the roster later this week when Casali rejoins the Giants.
